I lived and worked in Seattle then moved to California in May. Do I have to pay income tax for my Washington State income for 2006 Tax Year in California?

I was told by an CPA, that I need to report income earned from WA and use the tax form 540NR (non-resident or part resident). What's confusing is, WA state does not collect state-income-tax therefore, my W2's from WA does not have any state income nor withholdings data on them. Lines 16 and 17 are blank.

State income tax depends on your residence state.

Most state tax income earned while you live or work in the state. If you live in one state and work in another, there is often a credit from your state of residence for taxes paid the the state you worked in.

As I understand you question you lived and worked in Seattle form Jan to May, then moved to California. Any income before you moved would be taxed by Washington only. Income earned after you moved would be taxed by California and the state where you worked at the time if that is not California. You will have to file as a part year resident in both Washington and California. Your W-2(s) should indicate how much income was earned in each state.

Update: I just found out WA does not have a state income tax. You don't have to file in WA.

No, that income isn't taxed by CA. Only the income you earned once you changed your domicile to CA is taxable by CA.
