Here are seven tips on getting a natural-looking tan * Rub yourself smooth. While you're in the shower, exfoliate (pay special attention to areas with rough skin like elbows, knees, ankles and heels). Then dry off well (water can prevent the tanner from absorbing evenly). *
Be sure that the product you use already has a sunscreen or use a separate one.
*
Exfoliate your skin with a loofah before applying sunless tanning lotions to avoid uneven application of color.
*
Apply to skin in thin layers wherever you want color.
*
Avoid getting product on hair or eyebrows because it can color hair.
*
To avoid staining clothing, wait about 30 minutes for the product to dry before putting on clothes.
*
Try wearing dark clothing to avoid staining.
*
Tanning lotion tends to get applied unevenly to areas such as elbows, ankles, and knees. To remove excess and avoid uneven darkening, wipe over joints and creases with a wet cotton pad. Wash your hands thoroughly so you don't have tanned palms.
*
Don't shave, bathe, or swim for at least an hour after applying the product.
* Use a makeup sponge to apply tanner to the face.

* Don't tan in a steamy bathroom. Apply self-tanner in a room that's not extra-humid. Otherwise you'll end up streaking the color.

There is a new product on the market from BeautiControl. Called Leg Apeel. It is a 3-step system...exfoliating lotion for overnight...then a scrub to use in the shower/bath to slough off the dead skin....then the self-tanner.

I've been using it and have a nice bronze color to my legs. Now that I'm comfortable with it, I will be trying it in other areas.

They also have a self-tanner for the face as well....Sunlogics Sunless Tanning Lotion...it's noted on www.sunless.com.

I'm a big fan of the Jergens body glow. It works great if your skin is dry. Otherwise, it makes you feel slightly greasy.

The best Sun-Less Tanner out there is called Fake Bake. This is totally awesome. This is not sold in stores only in Salons and I get mine on eBay for about 1/2 the price. Its a cream you put on at nite and you shower off in the morning. This really works honestly. Please check out the website. Also this was recommended in Glamour, Allure and alot of celebrities are using it also. Britney Spears is a huge fan.
