Ok, I'm doing my someone's taxes this year. He worked in a lab at USC (University of South Carolina) over the summer and earned $900 and the federal income tax withheld was $71.30. He turned 18 on November 17th last year.
Can I file a tax return for him with the 1040EZ?
I think that I can, but I'm not sure!

Yes, he can file a 1040-EZ. Being a student is only relevant in determining if his parents can claim him as a dependent. If they can, and they probably can, he can't claim a personal exemption. With an income less than the standard deduction, the personal exemption does him no good anyway. His taxable income is zero and he should get the full $71.30 back.

yes... you can use the 1040ez... and he should get back all 71.30 since he is a student and made under $5000... the form is easy and you can download it off the internet.
