i meant study BOTH sides, instead of just 1 side. Also, i am sorry, i should not have used the term "bashing". I meant "disrespecting".

Bashing other religion is easy and fun.. Where serious study is tough and time consuming. So people go for easy and tempting task.

i spent 8 years at a christian school. i have read the Koran and have talked with colleagues who are Muslim. i have never criticised Judaism because i do not know enough about it to even frame a question, the same with Mormonism. Christianity and Islam i know enough about to question and point out contradictions and plain illogicality. the trouble is some people think the slightest questioning of their beliefs is mocking and bashing. the thing is if you can construct a rational defence against what you see as bashing, then your faith is all that more secure. if you retreat into irrational hatred of those who question your beliefs, then you have abandoned and betrayed them, haven't you.

The only "bashing" I do is minor Mormon-ism bashing. Just because I think the concepts are flawed. I don't care if people want to be Mormons, good for them! But I actually have studied a lot of major religions (including Mormonism) in my search for G-d.

I'm the son, grandson, nephew & cousin of Methodist ministers.
In college, I majored in religion (double major in music). In 1975, while in college, I came out of the closet as a gay man. After graduation I spent a year in seminary, but I left when it became apparent that the United Methodist Church would not ordain me.
That was a long time ago, & much has happened since, including the death of my life partner. But I now consider myself an atheistic-agnostic student of Buddhism. And the only "bashing" I do is when religions try to impose their rules on other people who have no desire to join their faith (or any faith).

Oh they have studied. But you know what they studied? Anti-Islamic, Anti-Christian, Anti-Jewish and so on sites and never really bothered to study the true meaning of any of those. I'm a Muslim, and I used to be extremely upset reading such posts. Not anymore. I'm currently studying Bible, because I've heard so many ugly things about Christianity and I consider myself a bit smarter than to beleive such lies. Aaaaah, good old bashers! They led me to studying :P

I've studied them, I don't bash them, even though I don't agree with them. I do respect Islam, Judaism, etc. LDS I view as more cultish than anything, but I look at people as just that... people first. I don't bash or judge.

Well, the religion bashers are single, minded and look at all religion as though a pair binoculars backwards. Funniest thing to me about them is they blame all wars on religions when the fact is that without religion it is doubtful that mankind would survived this long.

I have read the Q'uran and the Book of Mormon in their entirety and was not impressed by either. I found many historical errors in the Book of Mormon, and I found the Q'uran's messages of peace sandwiched by calls for the death or subjugation (but mostly death) of all Jews, Christians, and other "infidels," with very little else to offer. Thank you, but I will stick to the one religious text whose historical content has been verified in large part by archeology and whose message of peace contains past-tense bloodshed and a future of either paradise or extinction (far less violent than the Q'uran's prescription): The Bible.
