90 percent of people agree floyd is a little big mouthed brat who needs he trap shut,he disrespected the likes of sugar ray leanord, shane mosley, chuck leddell and oscar de la hoya.not to mention the entire sport of boxing.i think people are going to be wildly suprised when de la hoya stops mayweather inside of 8 rounds.i would say sooner but i expect floyd to run.

Very opinionated posters but none of you seem too knowledgeable about boxing and the importance of the fighter's styles, conditioning and heart affecting the outcome. I'm usually right in picking winners only because I put emotion aside and can look at the fighters and their strengths and weaknesses. In this fight you have Oscar De La Hoya (NEVER a true middleweight please, Felix Sturm whipped him), and Floyd Mayweather (a world beater at any weight). I like De La Hoya because he has done so much for boxing in terms of mainstream attention, his acceptance as a role model to millions of latinos and young people everywhere, and his willingness to fight anyone win or lose. Mayweather is different. He has not had the savviest people guiding his career and as a result, he has never received the purses he deserves, the admiration or the respect often give to much lesser fighters. Having said all this, these two guys are the class of the late 90's and early 00's. Even in his prime, DLH could not have caught up to Mayweather. Floyd is too fast and too skilled to stand and trade with Oscar for too long. he will trade at some point but he will not let Oscar hit him like some fo you seem to think Oscar will do. 12 rounds goes faster than most people realize and it is 3 minutes at a time. In those 3 minutes Floyd is so well conditioned and skilled he is like a rabbit avoiding capture. But he is also supremely talented at throwing blinding combinations and can slip his opponent's shots. I have no doubt that de la Hoya is a little taller but come fight night it wont matter. 2.5 inches is minimal, their reach is the same, their weight will be almost identical, and Floyd will still be much faster than DLH. Oscars claims of being as fast as Floyd is wishful thinking. He is trying to prepare himself psychologically in order to not walk into the ring underconfident. One thing is certain however. Floyd is still the faster, younger, and quicker boxer. He will beat up DLH after a tense first few rounds (DLH has never been a knockout puncher, he stops opponents by wearing them down unless you're a face first fighter like Mayorga which Floyd definitely is not) and stop him between rounds 7-9. My guess continues to be after 7 when Freddie Roach throws in the towel with Oscar taking a beating on the ropes.

Forget about these 2 having a rematch because it will not happen. Their first fight drew a lot of money, but was so boring that a rematch would not make a penny. Mayweather fought De La Hoya to put the name on his resume and get revenge for his uncle Jeff who lost to De La Hoya, but there is nothing in a rematch for him. De La Hoya knows he was lucky to go the distance with Floyd and learned from that fight he has no speed or skill left, so Floyd is going to stick to tomato cans that come right at him (Mayorga, Cotto, et cetera). Floyd would win a rematch with a tenth round stoppage by the way.

I think De La Hoya will win this one but to tell you the truth I don't know who will ended up winning. De La Hoya has a lot of experience and it's a great fighter, but in the other hand, Mayweather Jr, is young and fast and still doesn't know what is like to lose one since he is undefeated. I just can't wait I been thinking about this fight for way too long. I'm glad there is only a couple of weeks before I get to watch this amazing fight.

To all that say delaHoya i to old, he's 4 years older than Mayweather! The only difference here is experience. If he was 44 then that would make a difference. For Floyd to move up 2 weight classes so quick is stupid. If he knocked out Baldomir he may of proved that he was ready to move up. Floyd will definitely feel the one time160 pound punches of delaHoya. Oscar will be patient and find a way to win knock out or not.

I think Floyd would win if he put his wits on it, he has to fight run and gun meaning punch and run he is in no way going to win against Oscar in a toe to toe fight the pride of Mexico has way big punching power in his arsenal. If Mayweather stand a chance he needs to use his speed and as I said run and gun.
