I was in a forest near my house and I started ringing a faery bell that I own and all of a sudden a bunch of chickadees came and the were flying everywhere! Could these have been the fey in animal form?

Don't worry, I'm Pagan, a fae believer. No mean comments coming from me.

It is quite possible that those were fae in animal form. There's also a chance you just scared the chickadees. Or that the chickadees really like the sound.

I say it requires an experiment. Go out to the forest and do it again. If you get another response of some sort, I say you've had a fae encounter!

You can spell Faerie any way you like, they won't mind. I am part Scottish part Comanche. Funny thing that both believe in Faeries by one name or another. I am a direct descendant of the Clan McLeod, keepers of the Faerie flag (interesting story if you look in ot it) One of my Clan actually married a Faerie in human form. But I digress. It is entirely possible that he chickadees were either Faeries or the companions of Faeries that you were not able to see. Keep ringing your bell, maybe they will grace you with a glimpse.

It is a common belief that the fey would disguise themselves as animals so as not to attract the attention of the unwanted. Faeries, and other winged fey, will often appear as small birds or butterflies; whether they do this to keep humans from seeing them for what they are or humans do this in their mind so as not to overwhelm their reasoning at seeing a true fey is anyone's guess.

i believe you, and why not?! there is more to earth than what we can all see, hear and feel (taste and smell don't really come into it) my spirit guide is a faerie queen, my mums' friends' relative said he saw gnomes and pixies at the bottom of a hill near a river. if people weren't so tunnel visioned and could open thier minds to other posibilities then i think people would get along alot better.

Just to bolster the truth of what you say, this quote from one of my Books.

Those who held "religious views"drew strength from the biblical text: "And other sheep have I that are not of this fold" (John 10:16). Both clergy and laypeople read in this passage the implication that there had been a separate creation of the inhabitants of fairyland. Martin Luther could be called to witness; he had believed in the existence of supernatural creatures and insisted on the reality of changelings. Thomas Lake Harris, the mystic, poet, and religious leader, had incorporated fairies into his system of belief. John Henry, Cardinal Newman, did not exclude them from his. At least one Scottish Protestant minister thought, as he told W. Y. Evans-Wentz, that fairies were still extant, though only visible to those in a state of mystical ecstasy Evans-Wentz himself believed fairies to be analogous to Christ in their ability to become invisible--as He had done at His Ascension and Transfiguration.

BTW, Leprechauns are the cobblers for Fairy Dancing shoes.
