my aunt had her period the whole time she was pregnant with all 4 kids. it was about 2-3 days but the bleeding was the same as normal. most people will only stop during pregnancy, and it isnt really normal to have a period throughout the whole thing, but it does happen.

Why? I don't know. All I can tell you is from my own experience, I had one period that was "normal" (fell on the same dates as it should have, same amount of bleeding, etc.) and then one that was lighter the following month, and then the next month found out I was almost 3 months along. I never got a really good explanation for why it happens. The doctors will tell you it's not possible, and that it's just implantation bleeding, but I have heard that some women have a period the whole pregnancy! So, I have no idea how it's possible. My best advice is if in doubt, TEST! I wish I would have!

Most women who gets periods during pregnancy have light periods, no cramping, and they last just a few days. It's basically heavy spotting women confuse as a period.
If you're pregnant and having a VERY heavy period with cramping, it's likely a miscarriage.

Personally, my period was as heavy as ever when I was pregnant. The doctor said it's nothing to worry about...it's just a matter of how the baby is positioned. My period finally stopped altogether in either the fifth or sixth month (hey - he's going to college now - memories are just a bit fuzzy on some of the details).

not heavy-- called 'spotting', it's normal-- if it happens a lot, check with a doctor.
