Generally it is because of the weather. It sure ain't for the money savings because everything is usually more expensive in the summer months. Plus it is just usually for colorful and well pretty especially if you are planning on doing
outdoor photos and have a nice flower setting and all the green it is just a natural setting that is perfect to eccentuate the whole day. Plus it is alot easier getting arounf in the spring and summer then walking around in a couple feet of snow and sand and gravel everywhere.

People want an outdoor ceremony or at least photos taken outside. Spring is associated with fertility, summer is the height of the sun, romance & love, while the winter is associated with the earth going dormant or fallow.

Here is some history as well

From The Bad Old Days

The Hoax:
Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odour. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.

The Facts:
In the agricultural communities of medieval England, the most popular months for weddings were January, November and October,1 when harvest was past and the time for planting had not yet arrived. Late autumn and winter were also when animals were usually slaughtered for food, so freshly butchered beef, pork, mutton and similar meats would be available for the wedding feast, which often coincided with annual festivals.

Summer weddings, which might also coincide with annual festivals, enjoyed some popularity, as well.

Today winter weddings like Thursday weddings are becoming more popular because of the price breaks.

Where I'm from the average temp for Nov-Jan is probably about minus 20 C., with some days at minus 40 C. Not condusive to a wedding. Also, people take holidays in the summer months.
The Wedding Day, Wedding ceremony is the day a couple is wed - joined in marriage. The marriage is the lifelong thing... the wedding is one day.

Nov. Dec. January already have several occassions to celebrate - the wedding day needs to be seperated from all the confusion - A wedding takes planning and with other holidays taking the limelight, well, the wedding would never take place -or
when it came time for anniversaries it would always be "well, you know we really have to save for Christmas and the gifts"...
and sometimes it is the destination itself which might be rainy or have miserable weather the rest of the year.....

Something about spring and summer makes people just feel more alive! Weddings are exciting (at least to the bride and groom) and don't quite fit in with the desolate winter months.

I have no idea. I am from central MS and I NEVER have understood why people wait until it 110 degrees in July to get married. We went to Gatlinburg in January of 2006 and were married in the snow!!! LOVED IT!

The pregnancy factor due to the causation of cold winter months, and the discovery around May, and the decision to legalize the conception, which would then occur in the mid-year months.

Because the weather is nicer compared to winter months. You have more options with colors, flowers, location, etc.
