It doesn't really matter what the item was that was eaten, a freaking TALKING SNAKE gave it to them.
LOL.

Software uses a logic tree, and inheritance. Evolution follows a tree structure. Math, logic involve a truth tables. The fruit of their labors can apply to artists, social workers, parenting.
Iago was the talking snake in Othello the Moor.
I guess these technologies sound silly, too, if you get hung up on the terms. None of these sciences has a problem with the allegory of a tree, fruit, or a tree. Surely you would have a problem working in any of those technologies.

You do realize that it doesn't matter what the fruit was or even what the commandment was? It was a simple, clearly defined instruction. The fruit itself wasn't evil and didn't impart any special powers or negativity to Adam or Eve, it was the fact that they had directly disobeyed their Creator.
It was simply God drawing a line in the sand and saying "this you shall not cross"
I can understand why it sounds silly to you because I realize you haven't really given it much thought - you took a cursory glance at it and laughed at it arrogantly without thinking there might be something more to it than you can understand.

That was a story passed down to children and family to explain the difference between good and bad. God made everything good. Man wasn't satisfied and wanted more and wanted to be like God. (like today)
The first time in our life that we sinned, we symbolically ate the lima bean or apple and didn't obey God. We must obey God and He gave us the 10 commandments as the keys to a relationship with him. So don't put yourself in the garden and disobey God. It is too easy to love others and love God. Not doing that is like the temptation of the apple. Walk away from evil things. Jesus through his life on earth will help you to do good and the snake will try to direct you to evil. Jesus is the way!

It never says it was an apple. In Greece, it was a pomegranite. The Romans thought it was a peach.
And come on, the fruit's not important, when you notice that they were given it by a talking snake with legs.

The type of fruit or vegetable is not the point. The point is that God told them not to eat it and they did. It would not matter if it was a cumquat he had told them not to eat.

The story is silly in any event. We know from genetic evidence that it is not true.

The Bible doesn't say that they ate an apple either, so it doesn't matter.
