They were some candies back in the 80's and early 90's that were in the sape of a thin cone and it had several colors on it and at the very bottom there was a layer or wax!!
I used to LOVE these candies especially cold! but did they stop making them? or what happened?
I dont even know if this is the correct name ...

Yes, I remember those candies - Astro Pops is correct.
I don't remember the individual colors having a particular flavor. To me it was just colored hard candy. :-)

According to the link below, astro pops have been discountinued. Also, looking at the picture, I don't remember the candy being an inverted cone as shown.

Ah... my memory was correct. The original candy was sharp tip pointing out instead of inverted. Also according to the candymaker's website, they discontinued making the candy in Sept, 2004

They inverted the candy, changed the flavors, made the candy less sticky and got rid of the paraffin wax! Less sticky! I thought the point of eating candy as kids was to get as messy as possible and have your tongue turn different colors.

What the heck... they messed with perfection. No wonder the new version of the candy tanked.

Q: Why did the Astro Pop change? Why do you no longer make Astro Pops?

A: At Spangler, we strive to continuously improve our products. The recent Astro Pop changes are an excellent example. The new inverted shape eats better. The pop will no longer slip out of your mouth and the larger end delivers more candy (and flavor) at one time. We improved the flavor profile, reduced the stickiness and removed the paraffin wax. Unfortunately, sales volumes did not justify the continuation of Astro Pops, and this product is no longer produced as of September 2004.

I remember the guy that would come down our street selling produce from his van would sell these. I hated the wax part though.
