Three men are chatting in the pub and the conversation turned to children.

"We were going to call our son Gerald," said the first man, "but he was born on 23rd April so we called him George , after St. George."

"Well that's a coincidence," said the second man, "because our son was born on St. David's Day, so we called him David."

"Would you believe it!" exclaimed the Irishman, "The same thing happened with my son, Pancake!"

I take it that the people who dont get it are not from UK.

In the UK we have Shrove Tuesday in February. The tradition is that we have pancakes with sugar and lemon or syrup or whatever and nothing else for dinner. It signifies using up all the leftovers before Lent when we go without for 40 days and nights like Jesus in the desert. We call it Pancake Day. .

Also jokes with English Irish and Scottish are traditional here and the Irish person is supposed to be thick (not in real life it is a stereotype) and so named his kid Pancake after pancake day and not a Saint like the others.
