At my gym it seems the men and senior citizens are the worst! On the circuit you are supposed to wipe down the machine after each 30 second rotation. Rarely do I see it anymore. I have learned to wipe BEFORE I get on the machines now.

Because they are only focused on themselves, and don't care if their sweat inconveniences you or grosses you out. If I were you I would make a point of cleaning it off before you get on, and complain out loud if you need to. Like "I hate it when people sweat everywhere and don't wipe it off". Some gyms have policies against this, talk to someone who works there. I find it disgusting too, and yes I know it's a gym and people do sweat, but the least they could do is clean up after themselves!

there could be a few reasons. The obvious reason is they're lazy. Another is that they could be new to gym and just not aware. Yet some, just think they're sweat isn't a problem.
Either way, be polite and friendly, and ask them if they minded wiping the machine off after their use. No big deal, and don't make it one.

Lazy, yup. And gym staff not insisting on hygiene. My gym has notices up saying anyone entering without a towel will be asked to leave. I've never seen anyone asked to leave and when the gym staff don't enforce the rules, what can I do? (Hey, I could report the gym for public health violations - then they'd have to be more on the ball)

I agree, I hate that. My gym just put up those handy Clorox antibacterial wipes so people can wipe down their own sweat, talk to your gym and see if that is an option.

Most guys try to worry about the shape they're in not their hygiene. Thats why you never see guys wiping up their sweat after themselves. I wouldnt do it either, it's a gym not a tea party.

Most gyms have rules against this and these lazy people should be getting kicked out of the gym.

It's the sign of the times. Nobody has any respect for anything anymore.
I blame the parents. But why are the parents not educating their kids?
I blame the grandparents.
