To get the puppy to stop biting you say OWWW very loud when he does bite you even if it doesnt hurt. Usually this sound distracts him and he releases. Grab a toy and try and get him to play with that instead... when he takes the toy give him a treat... then you are reinforcing the dog chewing on his toy not your hand. Never hit the puppy for biting you this can cause him to respond by being more aggressive or the opposite.. he becomes sheltered and afraid of people in general.

He is teething, you shouldnt have to worry about your hands or your furniture when the dog is past a year old.

Actually I work in a pet store and I can tell you the apple bitter spray "its called Bitter Apple" some dogs actually LIKE the taste... PHOOEY is another spray that has a much better success rate. Also dont just buy chew toys.. buy the hard rubber ones they last longer and if you do feel like you need a soft fuzzy toy get the ones made out of lamb skin, they will last much longer than the cuter velvet of terry cloth chew toys which are sometimes returned to the store I work out the very next day because the dogs have already destroyed them... A WONDERFUL toy to get him is a treat ball... this is a ball that releases treats through a small hole while it roles on the ground. My dogs go crazy for it. This toy is also great to use if your dog begins to have "seperation anxiety".

At 6 weeks old the puppy should still be with the mother! Puppies teeth just like babies. Give the puppy chew toys or what I used was a wet rag I kept in the freezer, the cold numbs their gums and helps them feel better. Or you can try a finger toothbrush and rub the gums. If the puppy's teeth feel better they don't have the need to bite and nip as much. Always be consistent in discipline, a stern no and replace with something that is acceptable to chew on, be careful choosing "chew toys" some toys remind the puppy of other things around the house, i.e., tug rope with fringe may also look like a throw rug or pillow that has fringe!

Totally no big deal. My puppy is almost 20 weeks and he still bites when he gets excited-he thinks hes playing. You just have to be consistant with saying "NO BITE". When he does you can turn him on his back on the floor by holding his tummy with your hand. When he looks away from you and starts to calm down, you can let him go. That means he is showing respect to you; he knows your the dominant one. He is teething and needs something to knaw on. You can give him an ice cube to chase around the kitchen or an empty water bottle with the paper taken off. My puppy loves those things. I think he likes the sound of the crunching water bottle-he can really sink his teeth into it. I hope this helps. And don't worry-everything will get soooo much easier!

I tapped my puppy on the nose every time he bit me and he stopped...it took 30 times in a row but he finally understood. I also said no biting in a stern voice every time he bit. It wasn't hurting him when I tapped his nose but he didn't like it. Of course I was a crying mess by the time my husband got home from work and the puppy didn't stop biting him for about 7 months. He's 9 years old now and he still bites my husband occasionally but he has never bitten me again.

Its normal for a puppy to bite and chew on things cause they are teething. I would give a stern No when the puppy bites youand give her something that she can chew on like a rope toy. If that doesnt work try a spraybottle with water and spray her and say no.. that should do the trick!

All puppies at this age bite and chew on you, they are getting new teeth and it's like teething. Wait a little longer and get a product called " Bitter Apple" it comes in a spray and creme. Use the spray..spray your hand then spray a drop on the puppies tongue..offer her your hand. The terrible taste in her mouth and the smell of the spray on your hand will soon stop her. The spray is perfectly safe for dogs, so don't worry.

Well first, shes just a puppy so she's playing with you. But she is also testing her bounderies. I don't suggest hitting, nor tapping her on the nose. I have tried this with many of my pets and find it works wonders! What you can do is just find a spary bottle, fill it with water, and when ever she bites you, spray her, I suggest in the face for the first time, but not a strong spray(she could become affraid of it if it is, just mist will do the trick). I hope this helps!

If your puppy is 6 weeks old, biting things is normal. Get her some chew toys or if it really bothers you, I know that some stores cary like bitter apple spary so that will make the dogs not want to taste/ chew on what ever you spary. try that.

A simple method I have used over the years is to tap it on the nose with one finger and say NO! while pointing your finger at it's nose
It will soon stop biting, it just doesn't know yet that it hurts you
