I was told he wants love. And he is also perfect. If he is perfect why does he want something more? Paradox.

I think the Buddhist conception of perfection(enlightenment) makes far more sense.

Which god were you told wants love?

Certainly it was not the Christian or Jewish god.

That god clearly wants war and suffering.

Here is an update on my last answer.

UPDATE

God NEVER commanded to rape.
See, God cannot be with sin. The reason God has to have wrath is the same way you would discipline a child for doing wrong. If you look in the bible, God holds out his wrath for hundreds of years on the people who do nothing but reject him. Then immediately after his wrath, God will litterally "rejoice over you with gladness and singing" The book called "Zepheniah" is a great example of this.

I have been told its the same way a parent wants to have kids. Not to do stuff for them or do chores, or to punish... Parents decide to have kids so they can love them. Every parent I have talked to has done this. The person should have said "God desires to love us" rather than "God desires our love"-which indicates the paradox.

Humans have a tendency to anthropomorphize gods. the Infinite Source does not have human motivations-- it does not "want"--love or money or worship. it just is. If anything, it desires experience.( "desire" isnt the right word either.. but our language is pretty specific in that it deals with humanity primarily. it is hard to come up with "correct" terms when trying to explain the Source.)
Most religions are based on social control.. usually of one group over another. Spirituality and one's relationship with the Source is another story. Perhaps that is why Buddhism resonates with your own inner wisdom and perceptions of what is and is not truth.

I think either you are confused or someone has misspoken. God IS love. He wants us to love each other. There is a difference. We have free will so we don't have to love anyone or anything. But it would an awful waste of life if we didn't. Blessings, Diana

Perfect means without sin. It is not a sin to want love. What paradox?

It really doesn't matter what you think. It matters what God thinks. FACT. You were created for His pleasure.

If you created an entire race, and sent your son to die for them, you would probably want them to love and worship you, too.

He doesn't want or need anything. All of that is man made. I think that you're right.
