I have noticed several JW's on here that feel it is their life's mission to post Watchtower doctrines and NWT verses in an effort to convert people... I generally try to criticize only religions and not their followers, but this one truly is an issue regarding the people themselves and not simply their indoctrination.

Well said... pardon the generalization; I received an e-mail message from the 3rd JW today, and upon reviewing the questions and answers that each of the three had posted, I just couldn't contain my frustration.

Heres a better question about your question, why are the good answers getting bad ratings? are the JW's giving them bad rep?

thank you for sharing the object, Hong Kong. human beings basically like to tutor an excellent right into a unfavorable and seem for each risk to place us and our preaching artwork down. yet i choose to remark on SASI's answer: when I talk with human beings on the doors and share the certainty of God's kingdom, I consistently be valuable you point out that as a results of fact of Jesus, we've the prospect to have our sins forgiven, be waiting to be reconciled with Jehovah, Jesus' FATHER, and that purely by skill of Jesus Christ and via Jesus Christ can we get carry of Jehovah's undeserved kindness. So SASI, do no longer generalize please. How in lots of cases do you glorify the guy who's Jesus' FATHER, the guy who created him, the only whom Jesus himself glorified whilst he replace into on earth, the only whom he suggested "Sanctified by skill of thy call", the guy who named Jesus over all issues and the guy who he prayed to? confident how in lots of cases do you think of of the words at Ezekiel 38:23 (DNKJB) "hence will I amplify myself, and sanctify myself; and that i visit be ordinary interior the eyes of many countries, and that they shall understand that i'm Jehovah." in certainty, if it replace into no longer for Jehovah God, you does not have faith in Jesus' sacrifice. Why? as a results of fact Jehovah supplied that ransom, and purely by skill of Jehovah's undeserved kindness are you able to earnings from the ransom. we don't unfold an evil message, the evil doctrine is the trinity which has blinded human beings and retains them from having a private relationship with the sovereign of the universe. Well I'll pardon the generalization if you pardon those JW's for emailing you in an attempt to try & save your life.

That's how Jehovah's Witnesses view their preaching work - as a life-saving work. So it's a love for Jehovah & a love for people that motivates us to try & persuade you of the critical times we live in - 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Noah preached also, trying to persuade people to get on the Ark to save their life. Unfortunately, the majority didn't listen.
Many weren't wicked, they were simply preoccupied with their own lives and chose not to listen. Many ridiculed Noah. Matthew 24:37-39
Jehovah shut the door on the Ark not Noah.
He was just the messenger.

It's the same with us, we just take the message to people any way we can (mostly door to door work) but we will witness at any opportunity.

Anyway, at the end of the day we cannot "convert" anyone. If a persons heart condition is receptive then Jehovah will draw them.
We are just the messengers.

Btw - ask yourself this
Why do we cite scriptures if our Bible says different than yours?
It's irrelevant whether the NWT is used or the KJV or any other translation. The message is still the same.
Please check the scriptures.

:)

No human has the Authority to convert others. It is spiritual arrogance to believe that one can. Conversion is of the heart.

Also, Spiritual Slothfulness is a sin! It is motivated by the need to impress or please men, and does not Glorify God.

Colossians 3:23 - Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.

Romans 12:11 - Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

Thus, when one believes they are preaching the Word of God, by reposting HUMAN doctrines over and over out of habit, or to appear religious before men, their efforts are in vain, and may actually hinder others spiritually(another sin).

Those sincerely seeking truth, will eventually become desensitized to slothful repetition, and cease to read messages of this nature. Why would someone seeking Truth, consider the words of one, who does not speak from their heart concerning God???

I don't mind a difference of opinion(and there are many), if it truly comes from a place of sincerity and passion. However, after a certain point, I personally hide messages by select posters without reading them, as I know what to expect, and there is no need to distract my thoughts with repetitive and/or religious rants. God's Word has so much more substance.

Jesus is our example! He often taught the same truth over and over, but He did so with variety, parables, passion, and from deep within His heart and Spirit. He was on fire!

John 4:23-24 states: "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

Just as the Lord dislikes vain repetitive prayers, He also dislikes vain repetitive preaching. At times it is efficient to repost a specific answer, if someone asks the same exact question within a brief period of time.

However, if this has become a habit, and we no longer speak from the heart concerning God, and have resorted to constant cut and paste doctrines of men, our preaching style has become lukewarm...slothful, and it's time to seek the Lord in prayer.

Note: The Bible should be quoted more than any other source when speaking of God, otherwise we risk compromising Truth.

If one prays that God quickens the spirit, and removes the sin of Spiritual Sloth, He will lovingly do so. Blessings, Miji

I'm not trying to convert people, I just to want to tell people the truth about what the Bible really teaches.

As far as I'm concerned the time spent here is not ministry, this is just my spare time. I'm out calling from door to door and returning on people who've shown interest 23 hours or so a week, plus I work 3 days a week, so any time I spend on here is normally early mornings or late evenings - I'm too busy at other times. This is not a replacement for anything, this is just a defense of my beliefs.

Insight and others hit it on the head. I of course cannot speak for others on Y!A.

Answering on Y!A is something I do for a few reasons. One is because to post questions you must have points, to obtain points you need to answer questions, to get points fast you need best answers, to get best answers you should answer about something you know, since I know my beliefs I feel this is a good subject for me to answer on. I also answer questions about Anime, Pets, Video Games, TV, etc. I originally came to Y!A because I at times have questions about various things, mostly related to videogames (which I in turn am a seller these trying HARD to get a hobby/business going). I have also found Y!A to be a good source of aid with my poor typing/spelling skills. I appreitiate being able to use Y!A like a free class.

Being a Witness is not a 9-5 thing, it should be a 24, 7 thing. I share my beliefs whether it be from door to door, at the doctor's office, on Y!A, etc. If something I say on here actually reaches someone of interest all better, though I would probably never even know it.

As for posting. Personally I would love it if a limit was set for posting. I see many on here of numerous affiliations, who post links, often having NO bearing on the topic. One person on here posts links to youtube as support for her arguments. When various ones post links to watchtower.org it, for the most part, is so the asker can see first hand additional info on the subject they are asking about. As for Bible verses, when appropriate it does seem to make sense that when explaining our Bible based beliefs, there would be Bible verses referenced.

I certainly am not trying to convert people on Y!A. For a number of reasons. Cheif among those being the fact that Jehovah gave us all free will for a reason. I can try to give accurate information, then it is up to those reading/hearing it to decide how to proceede.

Generally speaking, when I answer a Q about my beliefs, the information I give is simply there to answer the query given, and help solve any missconceptions people may have about these beliefs.

PS I am sorry if being emailed or IMed is a bother. Hopefully the people were just trying to be helpful. I often am emailed, and at times IMed, by people of varying faiths. Sometimes it is nice, other times the people are horrid. However, this is the risk I run by having the option to IM or email open.

Cordsof's comment is insanely funny. Not in the least bit accurate, but funny. I would love to see his take on Barney the Dinosaur. Darn it his answer is missing.

What frustration? The Bible at 2 Pet. 3:15 (in any Bible) says we are supposed to defend our beliefs. I get hundreds of emails from people challenging my beliefs. As long as they respect me, I am delighted to share with them what I know from the Bible. I have made a number of posts on Yahoo. However, my principle mode of preaching is still the door-to-door ministry. Nothing replaces that.

And another thing, I don't try to convert anyone. It takes a long time to do that. Many times I make comments about the misconceptions people may have about the Bible or about Jehovah's Witnesses. The reason we quote from the Bible is to show that what we say is not a personal opinion. It comes from the Scriptures. I don't use the NWT exclusively. I use other versions of the Bible as well. I also use the Revised Standard, the American Standard, and the KJB.

One last thing. We do not have a Watchtower doctrine. Our teachings are based solely on the Bible.

Hi, I think i saw you on "HAPPY FEET." (kidding) anyway, what am I?JW#, what? Are you keeping count?

Many of JW that are answering questions on Y! A are really old and/or may have some disability where it is NOT practical for them to go door-to-door. They are not obligated to go knocking on doors but yet, they, as individuals may feel that they can preach or teach and still follow the command of Jesus to teach people of all nations about God's Kingdom in other ways than going door to door. Some will do PHONE witnessing and with the advancement of technology, now they can share some Bible knowledge to others via internet (with cautions) or email. It is not laziness. It is in fact the opposite of being lazy. We call it dedication and perseverance.... committed. So, please, do not criticize no more. Every person has their own limits. Why should you criticize an individual who are trying their best to reach people in any way possible? Those who are stronger and younger are out there knocking on doors.

Witnesses don't go out in service to covert people, so thy are not on here to convert people. They are seeking those whose hearts are seeking something greater or more closer to the original Christian teachings, and the way they were taught. My mother no longer goes out house to house, due to her health.and age. She cannot even make the meetings, though she made the Memorial.

The people who frequent here, myself included and I've been disfellowshipped since1982 by the Corning, Ca Congregation, mainly do so to curtail that much of the false info the flows so much on here. A certain percentage of people on here on here are very gullible, as was the exampled by the national news story last week about the phony Craig's List posting, and people know they can get away with such stuff.
