you are what you eat.
Are you moody or depressed, in need of revitalization and energy, or notice your behavior and mood changes from day to day? Do you have those days that are perfect and you feel on top of the world whereas other days you feel like you have hit rock bottom? Your mood and energy levels may be related to your diet.

What you eat affects your mental functioning. By choosing certain foods, you may be better able to balance your emotional and mental health. Putting the right fuel into your body may affect your performance and make the difference between a happy day and a grumpy day.

There is no doubt that food can make us feel good. Food has the ability to alter the production or release of neurotransmitters. This mood-food relationship is explained by neurotransmitters, which are chemical messengers transmitting our thoughts and actions to the brain.

The food we eat affects the neurotransmitters, thus changing our moods.

Stress is basically another word for FEAR. When you feel fear (stressed) your body produces adrenaline. Adrenaline is the "Fight or Flight" hormone, which can 'pump' you up so you can fight or give you more energy so you can run. When stressed your body also shuts down functions other than the 'fight or flight' so you are able to move quickly and increases your tolerance to pain (you may feel numb). For example, under stress your body will stop digesting food and more blood will flow to your arms and legs. Under stress due to extra adrenaline you might have racing heartbeat, chest pain, cold hands and feet, muscle twitches.

After the stress is over and your adrenaline levels begin to drop, you may experience adrenaline withdrawal - like a hangover after drinking. Some symptoms of adrenaline withdrawal are dry mouth/tickle in throat, numbness, dizziness/lightheadedness, trembling, trouble breathing, stiffness.

Also, prolonged stress (fear) can lead to feelings of depression. Your body has a limit to how much physical and emotional pain it can handle. When that limit is reached then the body 'NUMBS' out. Like, if you were badly injured physically you might become unconscious. Well, if you have a lot of emotional overload, then you will go emotionally unconscious (i.e., depression).

To ease your stress (fear) and depression please try using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or Emotional Tapping. In EFT you apply gentle acupressure tapping to specific body points to release blocked emotions. EFT is easy to learn (you can learn the basics in 15-30 minutes). You can use EFT anytime, anywhere for any emotional or physical issue. One basic round of EFT takes about one minute to complete. EFT works quickly and is virtually painless (you do not need to feel the stress (fear) and depression to release them.).

Please download the FREE EFT Instructional manual from the EFT website (www.emofree.com).

I learned how to use EFT last year and now use it everyday. EFT really works. - ONE TECHNIQUE YOU CAN USE ANYTIME YOU ARE FEELING STRESSED IS JUST TAPPING LIGHTLY ON THE SIDE OF EITHER HAND (where you would do a karate chop) for about one minute. Doing EFT for a couple of minutes in the morning makes me feel soooooo relaxed.

Take your "to do list" and mark off anything that could possibly be done at a later time, or that you are doing to either impress someone else, or because you feel obligated.

Now, that you should have a free evening, don't hurry and fill that time with a bunch more "to do's" now that you have the time.
Take your block of hours, hold them just to yourself. Consider taking a walk - just to take a walk and clear your head. When you come home try to not occupy yourself with chores or loud sounds. Get alone and either work on your special hobby that relaxes you, or read or write. Take your time and eat a bowl of ice cream slowly.

This is something to do for yourself at least once a week for a few months, that can lower your stress level.

As you look over your week, try to weed-out "to do's" that are not absolutely necessarily. Learn to say "no" when people ask you to do more and more. Be careful to pace yourself, allowing for time in between obligations, and at least an hour just to be quiet and alone each day.
You will be amazed at how your stress level will drop. AND With a lowered stress level, your depression should begin to lighten as well, with time and hope.

One example of how I tried to pace myself, was that for my children's activities, they participated in a church Kid's activity, each took piano lessons, and after that each child was able to choose one activity to be involved in -- Scouts, Sport, or other interest. As it was, I felt like I spent most afternoons in the car driving them around. I tried to spend atleast 1/2 the afternoons at home, and let them just have a
relaxed playtime without other demands on either them or me..

I use a brainwave stimulator; it can generate delta waves (the waves produced during deep relaxation) that my brain resonates with. I use it with subliminal CDs and it's a killer combination. I had once gone to a hypnotherapist to learn self-hypnosis and she told me I couldn't be hypnotized. But, I swear, when I run a 45 minute session with the Proteus and a hypnotic, subliminal CD I totally zone out and feel on top of the world afterwards. And, of course, the subliminal messages continue to do their thing.

Read the bible, friend, it has more comfort than you can imagine. The books of Proverbs, and Psalms especially. If you dont have one, look up verses from these books. Don't just look at these verses and then pass by them like a stranger on the road. Actually read them, and try to understand them. God Bless.

'Attacking Anxiety and Depression' program changed my life, seriously. I highly recommend it. And no medication, doctors, therapists, (or other strange things) are necessary.
