2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
All scriptures is inspired by God. Men wrote down what God wanted them to. That's why all the books in the Bible are in harmony.

Was that before or after he was put over the pyre by the Christians?

Of course he said it: If he was born in a Buddhist country he would have said it about Buddhism's book, in a moslem country about the Koran etc
