Two people are dying, and only you can save them. One is Christian, one is athiest - who would you save?

The atheist. The Christian does not need saving by humans. He is already saved.

I wouldn't make a decision based on religious beliefs. Just because you are an Atheist doesn't mean you lack morals, values or basic decision making skills.

The one I thought I had best chance of saving.In that situation, a persons religious belief or lack of it is irrelevant

It wouldn't matter at all, their religious beliefs. I would use ANY other criteria. Age, illness, physical condition, etc.
