In Germany, people normally say "Ich heiße ____." This is also spelled "Ich heisse" if you cannot find the ß character. This means "I am called ____."

"Ich" is pronounced like "ick" but instead of a "ck" at the end, put the "h" from "human."

"Heisse" is pronounced "hi + sa."

Oh, yes, they do say "Mein name ist Asya" as well as "Ich heisse Asya" in German, it just sounds more official (the first one).

"Mein name ist Asya" = my name is Asya
"Ich heisse Asya" = i'm Asya (heisse = called)
"Ich bin Asya" = i'm Asya

Nobody in Germany says "Mein Name ist..."
The correct way is "Ich heiße..." which translates into "I'm called..."
