it is possible to tattoo over scars but depending on how the scar is (raised, smooth, darkly colored, jagged etc) it may or may not come out looking like the rest of the skin. also i wouldn't just go to anybody to have it done. i would only trust a extremely talented artist to tatoo over a scar because as i understand it the texture of the skin is different and somewhat more difficult to tattoo over. the best thing you can do is to consult an artist. good luck!

I've done a lot of Internet research on getting a tattoo over scar tissue. I believe it is defiantly possible but you should find an artist who is experienced with scar tissue.

Yes, it is possible, but you need to find a talented artist. The only problem with scar tissue is it's thicker and not as porous as regular skin, so the ink might not be absorbed as well. If that's the case, no worries, you'll just need a couple touch-up sessions. Tattooing on scar tissue can also be a little more painful, but it's worth it.

yes it is possible most artist know how to do it but it really depends on how bad the scarring is if it is raised off the skin it could be a problem but if it is just discoloured area then it will be easy but might cost more due to the fact it will suck up ink like no tomarrow and you'll have to get touch ups, it won't affect the look of it too much as long as the skin is not raised, well good luck

It's possible, my sister got her fisrt tattoo to cover a scar on her back...
as for it effecting the way the tat will look...that definantly depends...
how much detail will be in the tat?, how big is the scar?, how raised is it?...ect.
You best bet will be asking a few artists about it, see what they can do...go to a few dif shops and ask what they all think and see if they have any opinions about it...
Hope this helps GOOD LUCK!!!

as long as the scars have healed (takes about a year, sometimes more) it should be fine. You have a greater chance of getting an ink blowout. Check with your tattoo artist to be sure that the scarring isn't too extensive.
