I was homeless in the USA for over 3 years and never saw one?

Not baiting, just tired. Hypocrisy seems to be as universal as any good qualities as does the ability to point fingers.

The vast majority of them here are run by faith-based groups (including several operated by my own church). However, there are some more secularized organizations, such as the United Way and other groups, that don't ask your faith when accepting contributions, and would be glad to accept donations from atheists or anyone else who was willing to lend a hand.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

None! remember the survival of the fittest. If that is your creed, why should you care? It is all just part of the natural order.
In fact it is an essential part of the alleged mechanism of evolution. You know, dog eat dog, nature red in tooth and claw, let the devil take the hindmost, Hitleresqe eugenics etc. etc. If we came from slime, and we will return to slime, is there any logical reason not to act like slime?

The atheists credo - - - -

We believe in one Matter,
The almighty, the omnipotent
Maker of the whole universe
Of all that is seen and unseen
We believe in one Cosmic Egg
The only Son of Matter
Eternally begotten of Matter
Matter from Matter, Energy from Energy,
True Matter from True Matter
Begotten not made,
Of one being with Matter
Through the Egg all things were made
For us men and for our evolution
It formed itself in the heavens
By the power of the Energy it became incarnate into virgin space, and was made Egg
For our sake, it exploded in a singularity,
expanded, and expanded and became everything
In accordance with the ‘Big Bang’ story
It spread across the heavens and evolved into galaxies
It will continue in glory
Until the ultimate heat death
We believe in the Energy, the giver of life, which proceeds from the Matter and the Egg
With the Matter and the Egg it is worshipped and glorified
It has been revealed by the atheists
We believe in one, secular humanist and Darwinian faith
We acknowledge one, atheistic viewpoint for the education of all.
We look for the oblivion of the dead
And the destruction of the world to come.
Amen

Given the percentage of atheists in the USA (around 3%) vs. Christians (around 75%) you would not be very likely to see many.

However there are good atheist organizations out there, e.g. The Red Cross, Bill Gates Foundation.

Good question. To the best of my knowledge, and this is limited to a small corner of Australia, all the 'charity' organisations like that are either church groups or church affiliated.
Not that they found my being a non Christian a barrier to employing me. (Something I'm eternally thankful for, as it did give me valuable experience).
I'm sure there are good atheist folk who 'do their bit', just not in the form of bricks and mortar, but "good deeds" (that sounds so pompous, doesn't it, blush) like me.

There are lots of atheist humanitarian outreach programs. Unlike Christian ones, many atheists belong to NON demoninational ones - like Doctors without Borders and Amnesty International.

Did you know the founder of the Red Cross was not a Christian? Check out Clara Barton, who was an agnostic, at best. Or did the Red Cross never help you out?

The Gates Foundation does charity.

Atheists tend to work for political and economic solutions to problems rather than charitable ones.

Just because they don't have a big sign above them saying "Stay with the Atheists" doesn't mean they're a religious organisation.

I think your comment says more about the USA than it does about atheism.

You're right, and thank your god for putting you on the streets for so long so that he could teach you that valuable lesson. Thanks for the testimony, brother.

Praise Jebus!

Hey, I apologize for being so mean in the above comments. I make no excuses. God did not put you on the street to teach you a lesson. I'm sorry you had to go through such a rough time in your life, but what ever kept you sustained until you came out of it was not a loving god. A loving god would not have you there in the first place. Not even to teach you a lesson.
