professional racer in the Tour de France: 25mph
average weekend rider on a nice road bike: 15-16 mph
loaded touring bike: 12-14 mph (not counting rest stops)
mountain bike on a decent trail: 8-12 mph

Coming from an avid cycling community, average speeds can vary between 15-20 mph with very fit riders averaging between 20-25 mph. Depending on hills, group size, etc.

in my area, a average around 20mph (on the flat roads). but i can sprint up to 35mph and top out at 47mph. i ride a mtb too.
