I asked God if Pope John Paul ll is in Heaven with the Lord. I get the assurance in my spirit that he is and with much reward.

Of course, John Paul ll was wrong about somethings, like the Mary idols, so that got fried & didn't go to heaven with him.

Many people did come to Gods Saving Grace through his ministry. He lifted up the Lord.

Jack, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God is the Rock foundation. Peter is given the keys & also the keys are given to all who confess Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God their Savior & have heart faith in the resurrection. Peter is a piece of the Rock and on this Massive Rock (Christ), Confessing Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, He will build His Church & the gates of hell will not prevail. We don't have the Gospel because of the Catholic Church. We have the Gospel because the Word put on flesh & dwelt among us. It was the early Church & OT Saints, Mostly Jewish Prophets, who wrote the books of the bible. And the Catholic Cannon has included some of the apocryphal books. What about those? They are spiritually discernedc apocryphal to any Spirit led born again Christian.

Get with the program...............

"Let us note that the very tradition, teaching, and faith of the Catholic Church from the beginning, which the Lord gave, was preached by the Apostles, and was preserved by the Fathers. On this was the Church founded; and if anyone departs from this, he neither is nor any longer ought to be called a Christian."

Jesus Christ foresaw that there will be groups that will breakaway from the Church he founded and so he gave the Church the sole authority to interpret Sacred Scripture. The teaching authority of the Catholic Church comes directly from Christ and is, therefore, infallible.
Matthew 16,18-20: "And so I tell you Peter, you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my Church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven; what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven."
Matthew 28,20: "And teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age."
Timothy 3,15: "But if I delay, this letter will let you know how we should conduct ourselves in God's household, WHICH IS THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD, THE PILLAR AND FOUNDATION OF TRUTH."

What did Martin Luther, the Protestant Reformer, state about the Bible? In his "Commentary On St. John," he stated the following: "We are compelled to concede to the Papists that they have the Word of God, that we have received It from them, and that without them we should have no knowledge of It at all." Regardless of what non-Catholic Christians may think or say, according to secular, objective historians, the Catholic Church alone preserved Sacred Scripture throughout the persecution of the Roman Empire and during the Dark Ages. All non-Catholic Christian denominations owe the existence of the Bible to the Catholic Church alone. Why did God choose the Catholic Church to preserve Scripture if It is not His Church

Only God knows this answer. The Bible says there will be many in Heaven that you would not expect to be there. It also states that many who you are sure will be there, will be absent. People often change when the doors are closed. If you consider Christian to be a political designation, than yes he was.
