You are getting a lot of mixed and wrong information here. I work with dermatologists, medi spa, and plastic surgeons all over the Midwest. First moisturizers do NOT create more acne. Oil does. In fact you are right dry skin may cause acne break out because the dry skin clogs healthy pores. That means you have to find a great moisturizer that doesn't have bad poor clogging oil. Some oils like lavender, geranium, palm and avocado actually help calm the inflammation from the acne. You also need a cleanser that gently exfoliates the skin. Caution! Do not think grains of sand or apricot scrub. Do NOT use Proactive, or any wash/treatment that has an unstable form of benzoyl peroxide. You must find a wash/treatment with stable and time released form of benzoyl peroxide for it to be effective and not burn the skin. Also there are products that you can take internally that can kill the bacteria that cause acne. These are not prescription based products, so you do not need doc and they do not have the harmful and unpleasant side effects that other prescriptions for acne have. If you would like a few product recommendations I would be happy to help you, but need just a little more info. What are you doing right now for your acne both internal and external? What treatment creams have you already tried? How old are you now? How long have you had acne? Do others in your family have or did they have acne? What is your budget for treatments?

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.
The secret is never to touch the spots
Tips on how to treat acne and achieve perfect clear skin in as little as 7 days?

I have acne, large pores, and very red skin too, and the only products that work for me are "harsh". You have to dry out your skin, unfortunately. But here's what I do and it is really working: I use proactive, and every couple of days I exfoliate with a washcloth, and when my skin seems to be drying out, I put shea butter on my face before bed. It's the only way to moisturize without clogging your pores! It feels greasy, but you don't need much at all, it goes a long way, and it's totally natural. Get proactiv, a washcloth, and shea butter and you'll be good to go.

i recently have cleared most of my acne. i still have acne scars. but in 2 months my face has improved 85%.
i am using:
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash
Toner
Clean and Clear Advanced acne control moisturizer.
the wash is great! it really helped. i use a basic store bought toner(this does temporarily make your face red) and then i was suprised about the moisturizer because Clean and Clear usually made me break out. you have to make sure you use a moisturizer with Neutrogena oil free acne wash because it will make your face dry!
if you dont want to use that wash i recommend other Neutrogena product. they are really great and healthy. they are dermatologist recommended.make sure you use all of these (wash, toner, moisturizer) and use a clay mask about 1 time a week.
hopefully you will end up with clear skin like i have now because i am very pleased and suprised about it.

I would like to suggest you to use the products from Gerovital Plant Anti Acnee Line. The Antimicrobial Foaming Gel is verry softly and really helps: you will see the results in the first days of useing. Also, The Moisturizing Aslavital Cream with Clay is verry good for sensitive and oily/acneic skin

I would suggest seeing a dermatologist. There's so many products out there sometimes you just don't know which ones are really good for you. I used proactiv and it worked but it REALLY dries out your skin. And their moissturizer doesn't really moisturize your skin. If you don't want to see a dermatologist, than I would recommend Neutragena (sp), Aveeno, Cetaphil....those brands are usually good.

I know someone who looks like acne nuked his back, and as disgusting as this is, he had someone urinate on his back (after hearing urban myths on the subject). To my astonishment, he showed it to me and knowing what it had previously looked like, it was the clearest I have ever seen it in the 13 years I have known him. But I'm sure you don't even want to discuss trying that, so try Proactive because I hear that stuff is god-sent. Although expensive, as anything good is.
