Oranges are relatively new to most of the world, so they were simply named after their color because people had no idea what they are. That's why in most languages, especially Western European ones, the color orange and the fruit orange are either the same word, or very close.

But yeah, apples come in many colors, not just red, the oldest breed of apple is actually pink and yellow.

Apples aren't called Reds because the come in greens, yellows and mixed colour.

reason there are some purple apples, some green apples and a few yellow ones. If ALL apples have been purple they'd have! A stupid answer to a stupid question. i assume there are nevertheless some relaxing people left interior the international, Huh?

Because reds are called reds, and they were distributed worldwide long before the apple was. That makes me hungry. I'm going to go slice up a red and eat it right now, even though purples are my favorite.

Oranges are called oranges because normally fruits fall under the FOOD catogorey not the color catogorey.
