I like chili but i dont like beans my husband says its not chili unless you put beans in it, I say it doesnt matter. Who is right me or him?

Actually...what we know as chili is the Americanized version of Mexcian chile colorado (red chile) which never has beans in it. Throughout the country you can find all kinds of different versions of chili, some with beans, some without, turkey chile, tofu chili, etc...But TRUE chili has no beans. Texans are very serious about their chili and if you ever go to a chili cook-off in Texas, prepare to be completely deprived of beans.

Chili is chili without the beans like most chili that has chicken in it has no beans but alot of spices and such so you are right.

The word chili is in reference to the spices (like chiles) put in it. Chili without beans is still chili.

Actually Chili does not have beans.
If you notice if it has beans it is called "Chili with Beans".
I like it with beans, but that is Chili with Beans.

Yes, it is. Growing up, the only type of chili my Mom would make would be minus the beans because my Dad is allergic. So, yes, it's still chili!

Real chili does not have beans. It never did and never sholud. What he is thinking of is Chili Con Carne or Chili with beans.

You can defiantly make chili without the beans. You can substitute the beans with small bite size potatoes. MMMMM.
