Obtain a copy of your father's birth certificate. Even his death certificate should have his father's and mother's name on it.

If you have your fathers birth certificate, his fathers name should be on there.
If not but you can get a copy of his certificate then you could start research from there.
Churches where you are born & where your father was born do have records.
There is also Somerset House in London where records are kept.

Look on your dads Birth certificate and his dad should be listed on there.

do you have a copy of your birth certificate? his name should be listed. you can obtain a copy by calling the state that you were born in. but your birth cert. should be a good start! or is there any family you do talk to that might know? your mom or someone from her side that your mom might have told?

find a copy of your dad birth certificate. I will have his parents on it. Check your State or where you Dad was born. You can probably order it on line.

Get a copy of your dad's birth cirtifacte. It should say the name of his mum and dad.
Or if you could get in contact with your dad ask him. it'll be very unusual if he doesn't know his own dads name
