If I am a crew member on a sinking cruise ship and a guest without a lifevest requests me to give them my lifevest, am I obligated to give it to them? Or can I tell them where to get a lifevest so they can get one themselves? Or should I give them my lifevest, and then go retrieve a new one for myself?

Since you are a crew member it would be easier for you to find a new one than to send a guest to get once since they might not know where they are located.

Moraly you are not obligated to give up your lifevest, your safety comes before others. I think it would be wrong for someone to ask for your lifevest in a life or death situation. However you should tell them were to get one or get it for them and after you are out of danger you are moraly obligated to help anyone you can in any way. For example I am sure you have seen titanic, in the movie the boats leave the people to drown, they were morally responsible for those people and should have went back to help anyone they could.

That would be a question for your captain. Personally, if I was aboard your ship and the ship was going down, I would be the crazed lunatic, while you being a well trained sailor would have the calmness to give me yours and find another one.
The captain is suppose to go down with the ship, not all crew members. Right?

Quickly take them with you to get another lifevest. If your life is at stake you shouldn't remove your vest for any reason.

Yes, you are obligated. Then you go find another for yourself. While there I'd probably grab all I could and start handing them out.

I think you should go get them one, do not give up yours as you are the one who knows the boat and the procedures for rescue...

I'm sure there's a policy about this in the employee training manual.
