I consider myself an atheist, since i don't believe in any religion, or the stories that various religions tell, and i don't believe that there's a god watching over us, or judging us and that when we die we go to heaven or hell.
However, i have had some experiences with 'ghosts', and have seen something spirit like.
Do any of you believe or are aware of this type of energy? and does it have to be necessarily related to 'god', or does it have nothing to do with the whole concept?

I'm a believer in science and the idea that "God" is scientific law and discovery -- not the humanlike entity described in religious books. And I know absolutely "ghosts" do exist, regardless of what anyone says. Ghosts are simply forms of energy in other dimensions that overlap our own, which sometimes we sense or interact with.

Personally, I believe god falls into the same category as ghosts, spirits, etc. Atheism only implies a disbelief in god...everything else is optional....have a nice day.

As a Buddhist I don't believe in the concept of OMNIPOTENT deities, but I do understand the logic of a "deva realm" and deities that are not omnipotent. Also we believe in the concept of minds that refuse to take rebirth due to whatever causes and conditions make them feel like they can't/won't at the end of this life, therefore they remain and do what they do.
Does that help? If you study Buddhism, you'll find lots of logic for such things.

It has nothing to do with god or the lack there of....
You nailed it when you called it 'energy' because that's what it is.
You are energy...everything you touch has energy , you give your energy to everything you touch.. when you die you energy will still exist.
some energies are stronger.
Homes that have limestone foundation have lots of ghosts (or tend to) limestone absorbs images and when the light hits it just right it plays like a projector...thus you see a ghost.
In that case our energy is being absorbed into the stone..
Really cool.

I'm an atheist and that only entails disbelief in a personal God. It doesn't affect my views on spirituality or the survival of human consciousness after death.

Dude, i will only believe in ghosts when i see one there is no proof of such a thing and i challenge any to show me otherwise. There is probably more proof of god which we both agree does not exist.

its unexplainded so people associate it with makebelieve (god) just like they used to do with thunderstorms and other naturual occurances. ghost could simply be images trapped in time, we know for a fact that this can happen with pictures and video but we're not sure how it could happen in nature, this doesn't mean it could happen this way but its an interesting theory.

Atheism is one thing only: concept of no-god.
Anything else -- reincarnation, non-deific afterlife, ghosts, goblins, aliens, ESP, etc... is up for discussion.
