Labgirl, I'm not trolling nor am I a troll. I still have a hard time understanding it though, even with all the good explanations.

I do have a clearer understanding though.

Don't worry, I saw your question in which they said you were "trolling". I don't think you were. It was a sincere question.

When I state that I smell a troll, it's typically because I've looked at their other questions/answers and it appears that this person is on here just to stir things up. The worst trolls are those who pretend to be someone they are not just to make the other party look bad. I've seen people pose as Christians, who really aren't, and then say negative things to make Christians look bad. I'm sure there are people that do it in all religions as well.

Trolling means to post questions or answers that are meant to upset the people on that forum.
For instance, on the political section, people of one political party would ask something of the effect of "Why are democrats/republicans raping children?"
You know they are only asking for trouble and don't really want an answer.
A troll can also give a trouble-making answer, such as going to the "Pets" section and advising people to kill their animals.
That is trolling.

You know, now I believe you *are* a troll.

In the last question you asked, *I* was the only one who used the word, and I *ASKED* you if you were trolling or asking a question seriously....asked, not accused.

Context, alone, should tell you what that means.

However, *TROLLING* is in the dictionary, dear, check Meriam Webster m-w.com... it is a way of fishing by dangling bait and has been used in English as a metaphor (just like BAITING) since before the internet came to be.

Troll is a term used to refer to people that like to stir up trouble. They often play dumb and open up controversial topics, insult and belittle the opinions of others, and generally make people angry.

Troll is someone who posts to a newsgroup, bulletin board, etc., in a way deliberately intended to anger other posters and draw arguments, or otherwise disrupt the group's intended purpose on the Internet.

I don't know. But I think it means that you have multiple accounts and use them for the express purpose of causing problems.
The CPT had multiple accounts, but I never thought of him as a troll.

It means you're just trying to bother people. Here's an excellent entry:

It means you're just trying to goad people into reacting to something you've posted but don't necessarily believe.
