i went to the dentist about a year and half ago at the time i was having some pain on two of my teeth and I could feel what felt like holes.. I told my dentist the teeth that were hurting. After taking xrays the dentist said that thoes teeth were hurting because the teeth behind them had bad cavities so she filled them and sent me on my merry way. I was ok for a few weeks and then I started having pain again and could still feel the "hholes" in my teeth. I made an appoinment and went back and she said I was ok but to use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth. I did and was ok for another few weeks. Then my insurance was cancled because I quit my job and I started having pain again and still could feel the "holes" in my teeth. I am unsure of what to do. Should I go back after its been so long?? Or should I go to a different dentist?? Or what??

BRITTANY,

THE "HOLES" YOU FEEL MAY BE PLACES TOWARD THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE OF THE GUMS THEN THESE MAY WELL BE PLACES THAT HAVE GUM RECESSION.
THIS MAY FEEL LIKE HOLES WITH YOUR TONGUE AND DO NOT SHOW UP ON X-RAYS THE DENTIST TAKES.
SINCE THE SENSITIVE TOOTHPASTE DID WORK FOR YOU THIS MAY BE YOUR TRUE PROBLEM.
MAKE SURE YOU USE A SOFT TOOTHBRUSH AND BE GENTLE AS YOU BRUSH.
A DIFFERENT DENTIST MAY TELL YOU THE SAME THING. THAT EVERYTHING IS OK.

I would go to another dentist. If there is a university with a dental school in your city try to go to the dental clinic there. You'll get top notch care and it will be much less expensive (if lack of insurance is still an issue).

I would try a new dentist it seems like yours is not taking the time to actually figure out what is going on. Too bad you have already wasted $$ and time on that dentist, but def. try another one.

Definitely try another dentist. It sounds like the current dentist didn't try to get to the real issue very well.
