I'm wondering what the beliefs/doctrines are of this denomination.

Okay, I think some more details are needed here. I know about the 'church of Christ' in general, as well as the idea of a universal church. I know the Bible inside and out. I'm wondering about this specific denomination.

Please do not confuse the "United Church of Christ" with those who simply meet together under the name "Church of Christ". They are not the same!

The web site for the United Church of Christ is: http://www.ucc.org/

I don't know what you believe, so it is hard for me to tell you what they believe that is different.

But the true test is what do they believe or practice that is different from God's Word! (Acts 17:11) If you will compare their own web site with the scriptures, you will find several discrepancies.

If you are not following the doctrine found in the scriptures, then you are following the doctrine of men. "Teaching as doctrine the commandments of men" makes worship "vain", useless, or void in God's eyes! (Matthew 15:9)

It was a merger of three or four other churches/denominations, one of which was a Congregational group (another was the German Reformed Church). The Congregationalists were the Pilgrims of Thanksgiving fame. They have no connection to the "Church of Christ" as mentioned above, the name is a coincidence. They appear to be an ecuminical church, and I think their beliefs are in the direction of (but probably not the same) as the United Methodist Church, i.e., a more liberal church as opposed to a conservative group such as the Baptists.

The Churches of Christ are Non-denominational.
They practice Biblical Sola Scriptura (The Bible Alone) and refuse to hold to any creeds.

Be careful not to confuse the Church of Christ with the United Chruch of Christ---BIG difference. UCC is pretty liberal in my book.
Here is their Statement of Faith:
We believe in God, the eternal Spirit,
Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ and our Father,
and to His deeds we testify:
He calls the worlds into being,
creates man in His own image,
and sets before Him the ways of life and death.
He seeks in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.
He judges men and nations by His righteous will, declared through prophets and apostles.
In Jesus Christ the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Lord,
He has come to us and shared our common lot,
conquering sin and death, and reconciling the world to Himself.
He bestows upon us His Holy Spirit,
creating and renewing the Church of Jesus Christ,
binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues and races.
He calls us into His church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship,
to be His servants in the service of men, to proclaim the Gospel to all the world and resist the power of evil,
to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table,
to join him in his passion and victory.
He promises to all who trust him forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace,
courage in the struggle for justice and peace,
his presence in trial and rejoicing,
and eternal life in His Kingdom, which has no end.
Blessing and honor and glory and power be unto Him.
Amen.
