IN order to pray, one must first believe there is something to pray to. If you realize that god is imaginary, then you will see that prayer is superstition.

I don't believe you can ever lose the ability to pray. I have a friend who has a mentally handicapped child that prays the most thoughtful prayers. He's amazing cause when he's not talking to Jesus, he can't even think clearly. But when he's praying it's like he's all there. This is evidence of the Holy Spirit inside a person.

Here is a scripture for you in Hebrews 12:2..Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. He started this thing and he will finish it...I went through a really rough time and couldn't pray literally thought I was loosing my relationship w/ the Lord along w/ my mind. He showed me this scripture. There are times when you may not be able to do anything. But remember, He started your faith, prayers, etc. and holds you in the palm of his hands. This is where simple trust comes in.

That is a really good question. Now, I don't know the answer for sure, but I believe that there is really no way to lose the ability to speak to God. I hope that you find the answer you are looking for and God Bless.

No. God always has time to listen if you have time to pray. Prayer is the one thing you can always do. If you can't read, you can pray. If you can't walk, you can pray. If you can't talk, you can pray. If you can't see, you can pray. If you can't sing, you can pray. Thank God for prayer!

I think the question should be can you lose the ability to form thoughts and ideas in you heart or mind because as long you can form them it seems you can communicate unto God.

If your mental state becomes so clouded...for any number of reasons... a Christian can indeed, temporarily, lose the connection to God through prayer.... this is not caused from God's end... it is the weakness of the individual... When faith is weak the prayers can get weak as well.
God dose not hear the prayers of the non-believers...nor dose he hear the inefectual prayers of the believers...

No you can't. Even if you can't pray with you mouth you can pray from you heart. As long as you can think you can pray.

That's because the question was not thought of and even it it was...the writers of the Bible were not going to answer.
