OK, many people on here say that logically, the idea of a God does not make sense, so they are therefore atheists. And I agree with that, in the sense that the idea of a God defies all logic.

But let’s actually use logical thinking to address this situation. Let’s pretend there is a God, and He obviously does not want us to “KNOW” He exists, because if He did, He could just megaphone over the entire world “I am God, I exist”. Right? If He wanted to, He could instantly prove His existence. So therefore, He must want us to question His existence, for whatever reason. Possibly so that many people will have faith in Him, and those people will go to Heaven. But that isn’t the point.

The point is, if there IS a God, and He wants us to question His existence, why would logical thinking lead to proof of His existence? He created us, so he could get our minds to work however He wanted. So, He could manipulate our idea of logical thinking just enough so that logic will never lead us to determine His existence. Otherwise, logic would eventually lead mankind to discover evidence of His existence, and the idea of faith in Him would be destroyed.

I am not trying to force my viewpoint, but just to make you think about it another way. So what do you think?

Great question!

We know from Scriptures that creation is sufficient evidence of the existence of God. As we learn more through scientific means we find that such knowledge makes this revelation even more logical.

If we look at the most accepted theory of the creation which is the "big bang" theory we find that the universe was created out of nothing by a gigantic release of energy spreading matter through the void or nothingness which evolved into planets, stars and etc. relating to each other in an orderly manner. Then, upon the firmament created by the great explosion of nothingness evolved a complex life upon at least one of those planets formed out of the dust of nothingness. Now the atheist finds this logical while the Christian does not nor does the philosopher who realizes that someone or something must have made the spark that created the "big bang". The Christian would say that God spoke and bang all things were created. If God had not wanted us to know there would not be the evidence of creation. As it stands the non believer has absolutely no excuse when his knees bow and his tongue confesses at judgment as to his disbelief.

In Christ

Just how logical is man anyway ,,,, Seems like the longer time goes on the less he learns ,,,,

It thoroughly upsets me the way man tries change or alter the scriptures to fit his own life style or conveniences ,,,, The catholic church is guilty of this ,,,, There is even some material that hints at Jesus being a homosexual ,,,,

You see it on TV now with allot of the documentaries the History Channel or any of the other channels air dealing with religious issues ,,,, Now the latest thing is that some one has supposedly found two books that were omitted or suppose to have been band and not put in the Bible ,,,,

Where is this going to end ,,,, The Bible is our only link to God ,,,, It's our only avenue of communication ,,,, Regardless of what else has been written by anyone else it's the Bible and what's in it that we are supposed to look to for guidence ,,,,

The last thing it says in Revelations is that No one will add too or take away from this book ,,,, That for those that take anything away from the Bible then his name will be stricken from the book of life ,,,, And for anyone that would add to it then to him is added the plagues that are written in the book ,,,,

Evidence of God is all over the place ,,,, All you need to do is open your eyes and use your brain ,,,,, But you do need to open your eyes to see it when it appears ,,,, If you are looking for evidence and can't recognize it when you see it then you are blind or asleep or both ,,,,

Open your eyes ,,,, Wake up and smell the coffee ,,,, Yoda said this ,,,,

That is a good summary of it. But I feel I want to extend on the subject, for better or worse. Logic and faith are two separate things that can ever mix. You cannot use logic to prove God, or use God as a reinforcement to logic. Logic is something we are given to explore our world and make it seem reasonable to us. Humanity wants logic because logic makes the world make sense, and humanity in general does not like something that does not make sense. God created us with logic so we could reason our way in the world and be content. Knowing our ambitions, though, God made us so we could not logic our way to Him or Her, depending on what sex you see God as. In short, God does not trust us (for a reason!) to be able to deal with the truth of God's power, and so (S)He made us limited in that sense and put God above logic. If this doesn't make sense, just don't think about it. God doesn't use logic

No logical explaination will EVER lead to God. God is of the supernatural, and too many try to define Him with the natural. It is mans curiosity to know everything and to have knowledge that got us put out of Eden in the first place. Faith is not blind, sight is given to those who walk in the spirit. Stop trying (Christians) to use logic and the world to define our God. It just wont work. The simplest answer?? You either believe, or you dont...

Well, I admire your attempts here
However, there is one gaping hole in your arguement from the start. Pretending there is a god. From the start your logic is admittidly flawed. It requires one to make god.
If god exist and wants us to believe in him based on faith rather than direct knowing, why would he create a hell? Punish the people he hid from? That's like a cop planting evidence. I would argue that is the work of Satan.
But then I understand reality from myth.
So this isn't a issue for me. Must suck though.

Imagine if there were a big clock on the wall, ticking down to your death. It would indicate the exact day, hour, minute and second of your demise.

Kind of takes the fun out of living, right?

Part of the human experience... the cognition that makes us different from animals... is our ability to indulge in the concept of MYSTERY.

Life for humans is, essentially, one big mystery. We plan and plot and map out our futures, but none of us really know what is going to happen to us tomorrow, or a week from now, or a year from now. The unknowable aspect of life is what defines our existence, and what makes life worth living. Otherwise, we are salmon.

Our human brains have evolved in such a way so as to allow us this marvelous indulgence in mystery. Religion and god are simply this indulgence taken to it's furthest point. We are practically hard-wired to want these unsolvable mysteries in our lives because they fuel our insatiable curiosity. Questioning everything, especially god, goes hand-in-hand with being human. Even if we could logically prove god, or if god appeared and proved himself, we would still need to invent a new GREAT MYSTERY, because nobody wants to know the exact second of their death. As human beings, we want there to be great unknowns.

Look, as a Christian I think we have the decision to think whatever we want. Would you want to force on you his views? I choose to believe because I love him and have seen his mercy. You think Christians can't think logically, guess again. It is obvious that the more a person studies ant thinks the more one suceeds, right. Isn't logic to organize one's life by following laws. For example, the Bible says to only have one partner and don't have sex outside marriage. The Logic, if you have sex outside marriage many consequences will follow you such as disease, pregnancy, or braking up with your partner. I have been saying it for a long time God is not at war with Science or logic. It depends how you see it.

Depends on what people think is logic .
I think it's completely logical to believe in God , although it takes some real thought .
To not believe in God requires the following.. .It requires that people believe that no one created the earth and the solar system and it just suddenly 'appeared' . That is what I call illogical !!

What I say is lack of evidence for God makes disbelief the logical default- that is different from saying logically God can't exist. I don't have to believe he exists until evidence is forthcoming to prove it.

No real logical thinking is required at all if you just know how to read and look at the world around you. The end times signs and such are all you need, you simply need to look them up and look at what is really happening. If you did, you wouldn't be asking this question. God bless.
