Im really curious here...
Yesterday, Zach Johnson won the Master Tour. He, naturally, thanked Jesus "first and foremost" for his victory. Later, he was wise enough to name and thank about 10 people, including coaches and trainers, as well as sponsors and others...but again said that he thanks Jesus "most importantly" for his victory...
Fair enough. He was only an average player in high school, only received a scholarship to an average university, and only played average while in University.
But Im wondering here: Does Jesus play favorites? Surely there must have been other Christians playing on the tour - why didnt Jesus allow them to win? Does Zack have more faith, thus is more deserving? Also, since Jesus says that prayer and beleif can move mountains - why did Jesus only allow Zach to win by one measly stroke? Wouldnt Jesus allow him to win by some ridiculous score, like beating them by 10+ strokes, like Tiger has done in the past - without Jesus??
Just curious...

Well, Zach won by two strokes, but it wasn't because of Jesus. Jesus does not play favorites. He plays dead. That's about the only trick he has left.

I don't think Jesus plays favorites. At birth, your possible skills and laid out and planned for you. Whether or not you achieve those skills is a different question. Your faith usually does not have a direct effect on sports. Strong faith can give you confidence to perform better, but it is not a question of how much faith you have. Jesus will not make someone win because they strongly believe he suffered, died, and rose again. They make themselves win, whether by faith or something else. Zach could have thanked Jesus for letting him win, but Jesus didn't have any say on if he won or not. That was Zach's personal choice. Other Christians that didn't do as well may just not have been as good or were not as confident in their ability. Jesus doesn't play favorites, but you do.

There are no favorites. It's the devine plan which can not be changed no matter how much you pray you would still only have a 50-50 chance. To put it bluntly the plan set forward is in place. Enjoy your life and take your own chances and above all have some fun. We're only here for a short time where I would rather rule in hell than serve in heaven. If that's what you believe. For me I rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6.
Good luck!

Jesus had Johnson as a 7-5 favorite in his Heaven pool. He put in enough money that he actually came away with over $700.
It's not fair though, since he actually controls all of the action. But you know the deal. His place, his rules.

It seems that way doesn't it? However, you have to realize that we are all given gifts. Some people can play a musical instrument. Others can paint. Others are lightning fast at math. To really excel at our gifts, we must develop them or they will wither away into nothing.
Obviously Zach Johnson won from hard work, practice, more practice, and more hard work. When it comes time for a game, it really just depends on who is more prepared for it.
God bless,
=)

No. I hate athletes like this. They think that "Jesus made them win" or "God helped them to win". God could care less about these athletes. There are a lot of worse off people in these world, including the sick, the poor, and the needy.
God really wouldn't take sides, either. He cares for all individuals equally, so I'm sure that he would be rooting for all sides =D

Yes i believe he does find favor with certain people and all things work for the good of the Lord so maybe that was meant to be for that person at that time God planned it that way

Zach is just glad he won and is publicly thanking Jesus just to cover all his bases, like some people carry a lucky penny. Can't hurt, doesn't help either.

Jesus is dead, and henever gambled when he was alive. assuming that christians are right, and he somehow exists, he would not support either side in a gambling match. in fact, he'd probably cause a rain storm so thematch couldn't happen.
