My entire family is addicted to perscription pain medications. My father, my two aunts, my cousin, my grandfather. They take large amounts of Soma (up to 6 at a time), Xanax (2-5 at a time), and Hydrocodone (3-7). They are all drug addicts, each one takes a different amount of the above within each range, but those are the three. Recently my father and grandfather have run out they are having hallucinations, terrible ones, with seizures as well. They call me and tell me people are after them while I am at school, when I get there there is no one. They believe they're captains of navy ships. I no longer live with them so I can no longer protect them. My father recently got in trouble with the law and he has a court date soon (next month) I bailed him out, so I don't know how involved I can get with the police.

The abuse has been going on for years.

What should I do? I am a college student and have never taken any prescription medication, nor do I do drugs, and am an A+ student.

Just wanted to put in there that if they had valium they'd take it. They go to these doctors and they basically just write perscriptions to them. 200/100/100 of each of them, they split it up and they eat them all within 3 days generally. Literally hundreds of pills a month.

They go withdrawls every 2 weeks after their social security checks and disability checks run out. I've spent over 5000$ of my own money them trying to get them food, rent, lights, last 6 months and it's just gotten to the point of I don't know what to do anymore.

They were just evicted from their apartment of 3 years due to causing issues with the front office, they need to be out by the first week of May. I just don't know what to do anymore. My dad's facing charge of 1 year state jail felony.

Why not give them something new to be addicted on? Ketamin hydrochloride? rivotril? what off the classic Valiums? what about some meth shots? those are good.

This is a serious problem. I think there are some help groups for this. Look them up and ask.

They all need some serious addiction counselling. They have to want help though. Here is information on benzodiazepine addiction http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/

Xanax and valium are benzodiazepines and abrupt withdrawal can cause seizures and psychosis. They are the worst drugs to come off of.

Good luck

Tell them it bothers you and stay away from it yourself. Shut your phone off when you are in class. You're under no obligation to baby them and bail out and cover up for them indefinitely. It would be better for them to face these things head on alone if it might make them see they have the addiction. So sorry. You did the right thing by moving out, so don't second guess that good decision.

You can tell your family to go to rehab or you are washing your hands of the whole situation.
