This is a question my friends and I have been debating over for a while. I wanted Yahoo! Answers opinion!

Genetic engineering.
We will not kill off the human race with war or pollution. We will choose to improve the species with genetic engineering. First we will make small changes to prevent genetic disease, like diabetes, then we will make changes to remove susceptibility to things like tooth decay, then we will make changes to improve strength and intelligence, then we will go all out and choose to change ourselves so completely that the result will not even be human by today's standards. The many different decedent species that result will expand out into the universe, living on many planets for billions of years, but none of them will really be human by today's standards. Or if some natural humans are left, they will be an oppressed underclass, existing only as servants, or slaves or even pets.

Most likely seems to be a super volcano or an asteroid collision but then again, there is no real answer unless you can predict the future. Civilizations have been predicting the end since before the Romans and no one has been right so far.

There's a bunch of stuff. Yes, asteroid collision or a super volcano. Global warming or some other climate change phenomena, maybe a nuclear war, its possible. However my favorite remains grey goo, where out-of-control, self-replicating, nano-tech robots eventually consume all matter on the planet. I'm not kidding, this isn't Star Trek, it could happen

when people stop to care about one another . You can see this happen in family right now. The more greed take over. People will stop to aid others and know one makes it in this world alone. We just like to think we can. Without compassion the world will never survive .
