I had a strange dream on Easter morning. I was invited to a funeral of a man I didn't know personally but who was believed to be very good and well liked by my closests friends.

When I got to the funeral I discovered I wasn't dressed appropriately and everyone was quite angry with me for that reason.

Then I saw that one of the mourners was my spiritual mentor who died of leukemia in 1992. At first I thought it was his brother, who looks a lot like him, but as I got closer I saw it was really him. He smiled at me and told me not to worry about how I was dressed or the irritation of the other mourners. Then he disappeared into the crowd.

I'm an atheist and this was a very distrurbing dream for me because the resonance with Easter was so marked.

Kinda shook me up. What do you think?

This was a dream from the Lord concerning you. God is about to bring you back to where you were in Him before you turned away. The Lord is showing you that you will not fit in with the people you are now associated with. They will become offended with you. That's why you were not dressed appropriately for this man's funeral. You will not fit in with them. The man who you saw as your spiritual mentor represents the voice of God to you. He was somebody that you identified as being a true man of God. The Lord is showing you that when you come back not to fear what atheists will say about you. Easter of course, represents the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior. And in that resurrection there is life. There are some areas in your life that have become dead, but God is going to resurrect those areas in your life, because you still belong to Him.

I don't think you should be disturbed. I certainly find it intruiguing, an athiest with a spiritual mentor :)
Do you have religious friends? I find it interesting this image of attending a funeral on Easter morning, of "one you don't personally know, but who is believed to be good, and well liked by your closest friends. " All the more so, if you have Christian friends, who would like you to get to know Him better.
While the "spriritual clothes" you wear in this life are not " in fashion", they suit you, and they are appropriate, until you determine otherwise. If some corner of your heart or spirit seeks a closer relationship with God(dess) it will reveal itself in the fullness of time. Until then, be who you are.
But then, I believe that one of the ways God seeks to find out what He / She / It is, is by having some of us tell Him what he is not, or even that He is nothing at all.

That is just coincidence my friend. Remember that Easter is a borrowed concept of the pagans, The Christians don't even know when Jesus was born or died. SO I wouldn't worry about it. just odd luck. Now the dream might be a subconcious attempt to tell you that something else is bothering you.

The solutions are as diverse as there are human beings. For some, this is the snarky comments maximum of Atheists here hurl at human beings. There seems to be as many self-righteous Atheists as Christians. the two are particularly gruesome, IMHO. For others, i think of this is lack of self assurance. lots of persons want everybody around them to be only like they are. that's a worry-unfastened ailment in the human and related to extra matters than non secular ones, i'm afraid. you are able to as nicely be asking why will not be able to everybody play effective?

That is kind of weird. I had a dream that the rapture happened and pretty much everyone I knew was gone. Maybe it's because Easter is such a big deal.

Well it could be something in your heart telling you that you should believe or it could just be you subconscious dealing with all the Easter hype. You should meditate or think on it. This is a question you need to answer for yourself.

Dreams are weird. I have a recurring one about a kangaroo/lion running off with my son. I can see why this dream shook you, but I'm sure it was just your subconscious playing a version of word games. =0)

I think it was an interesting dream with a combination of symbology based on the prevalent culture and your own personal experiences.

Do you think some truth was expressed by the dream? If so, embrace it. If not, then accept it for what it was, a dream.

Jesus tells us to come as we are to Him. Not to worry about people who hold us back with their words or behavior, but to come to Him and He will set us free. He'll deliver us from our sins and purify and refine us. He'll give us the Holy Spirit who will teach us all things and who is more than able to finish in us whatever He starts in us. Only believe and come unto Him. Jesus will cleanse us from all sins and put joy in our hearts. Only believe and Trust Him.
