Meditation truly is not as has been projected world wide. If you ask anyone what meditation is... most would reply that sitting in a dark room one should concentrate on the centre of a small lit bulb. When asked... what next to do... most would stare blank not knowing how to still the senses and the mind sitting in such a posture. Is that all to meditation!

Meditation pronounced yoga in Hindi is derived from the root word Yog. In Hindi Yog means plus. Two Yog two is equal to four. The process... the synthesis of our soul atman within the body with the supreme soul atman, the Almighty God himself is what we know as yoga (meditation). In simpler terms the effort of the soul atman within to merge with God Almighty is known as meditation (yoga).

All processes that lead towards synthesis of soul with the mighty soul are part of yoga meditation. And why this synthesis is at all necessary or required?

Ever since our soul atman within the body separated out from its source at the time of big bang... it keeps on trying regaining back its pure pristine original form. That is possible when the dross within the soul atman is removed. To remove these impurities (the dross within)... every soul atman manifests a series of bodies one after another until it comes back to its original pristine form.

The journey of the soul atman starts with the form of an amoeba (single cell formation); next it evolves into multi-cell formation, then insect life, plant life, animal life and finally the form of a human being. It is only after reaching the form of a human being... one can meditate (perform yoga).

By the right performance of yoga meditation our soul atman residing within our heart ultimately reaches the last leg of the manifest life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation. Ultimately the human form gains enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha in Hinduism). This liberated soul finally returns to the abode of God, the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism).

Meditation yoga can be performed in any stage of life. It is possible equally for a child or an older person. Anyone who finally decides to reach the cosmic end of life in the present manifestation... by performance of proper meditation yoga can liberate the soul atman within forever from the cycle of birth and death... no further manifestations the soul atman becomes free forever.

By meditation we simply gain absolute control over the five senses and the mind. Having stilled our senses and the mind... and following the path of Neti (not this, not this) as practiced and advocated by Maharishi Ramana one finally reaches the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. Neti is best done in the Shavasana pose of yoga (the death pose). Reaching the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi indicates one can have dialogue with God on one-to-one basis permanently. As I read your poem, I envisioned all the things you talked of. I also noticed that you left us to our own imaginations as to things like hair color and length, height, weight ect. We each conjer in our own mind the vision of beauty that must be Elaine P. I loved reading this, and when I saw Annabella's answer, I linked over and found the pic on poetsofmars. She is a personification (to use one of your own words) of gorgeousness. The vision in my head looked totally different, but the picture of Elaine did not disappoint me in the least, she is truely beautiful, as is your poem about her. How much can I say about this poem? Too much, I fear, so I'll hush while I'm ahead. Write on man, write on. I love your work.

Your computer's not stuck or you wouldn't be in here. Sorry, hon, it's unethical for me to do your homework for you. Research it and come to your own conclusions, or not. There are many types of meditation, and I'm sure you'll find your answers... it's not a hard concept to research.
