Why do older men date much younger women...Whats behind this? Other than being naive...?

I have notced that single older men between the ages of 38-52 seem to enjoy dating women in thier mid to early 20's and 30's...Maybe some of the older men on here can tell us why.

I am with a much older man, you dont decide who you fall in love with. I think some are with younger girls just to show they can be for status or a trophy wife.. but some truely do love the person they are with I think some of the answerers are wrong in saying its sex only as well because that does not make the relationship my husband and I talk.. about everything we enjoy a lot of the same things.. we enjoy each other and love each other..

Well let's look at the other end of this shall we. What about older women dating younger men?
Sure it doesn't happen as often, but it does happen.
My wife and I have been together for 11 years and she is 11 years my senior. Sure we have had our number of questions and what not, and of course her family can't stand me, thats another episode in itself, but all in all we have a good life together.
It is this end of the spectrum that you should focus on, because for whatever reason this is the thing that people find taboo. Still to this day when you hear about an older man dating a younger female the comment that you hear most often is "he's going through a mid-life crisis, or she's a gold digger". Something along that line. But when an older woman has a younger guy the only things I have heard is "shes robbing the craddle, that's not right at all" or something like that.
There is a double standard in the country when it comes to this. What do I mean? Well for example, a couple that my wife and I know were going through a custody battle and the ex-husband started seeing a younger lady. Nothing was said about that and the mother retained custody. My wife and her ex had a custody battle after her ex found out that we were dating and I was younger and the judge took custody away from my wife and said, and I quote" a 19 year old and a 30 year old have no business raising a child in GA". He never once took the time to talk with me to find out what kind of man I was or anything. Had he done that he would have found out that I was a millitary man serving our country, never been in jail or arrested and had no history of violence or anything.

So I end with this. Date who you want, as long as it's legal and don't worry about what anyone else says. Do what makes you happy.

lol. The woman I am dating is 10 years older than me. Should she be dating someone older? (Just wanted to turn the question around). As far as men dating women much younger than them, I think that many of men have a hard time accepting their age. It gives them a sense that they are younger because they can still attract a younger woman. In a way it is basic insecurity.

I'm not a man , but I do think men date and are attractive to younger women because younger women are more attractive than older ones. As sad as that seems, that's what it's all about, looks. Also, I'm sure it has to do with control and feeling more "manly" being the one that knows everything and being with someone that doesn't. Being with a younger women makes the man feel younger. Makes him feel like he's not old and also if the younger women pretends to be attracted or perhaps if they are, it makes the man feel great and special, and young and like he still has it. Mid-life crisis's have a lot to do with all this. Men just want to feel young again. They want to feel that young women still find them attractive.

I think that older guys date younger females because younger girls have more sex appeal, and it's a fantasy type thing for them almost.

*Also a lot of older guys I think 'assume' that younger girls have not been "used" (had lots of sex) so they're "tighter" which will make sex better for them.

~Also with younger girls it makes role playing that much more erotic, because sometimes some outfits just look better on younger girls and they can play the part better. So that is a turn on to them as well.

*Or another reason is younger girls...well...look younger and they're bodies are "nicer" and toned etc. Guys like that.

~Or in my case I'm 21 but I look like I'm 16-17...so I get a hit on by a lot of older guys..and they all want to see me dressed up in a school girl outfit etc. .....so yeah. I guess it's just a matter of the individual and what they're into. And why they are into it.

There are some men who are predators looking for young women to abuse, control, use, or whatever. We're all aware of that.

However, I would have to say that boys or young men are attracted to young women... and some of them continue to be attracted to young women even as they grow older. Just because they get older, they may still feel young... or they just are attracted to the qualities that young women have.

Being a woman, I obviously can't say for sure. But I can tell you that as a 23 year old, I am attracted to older men. Under 30 is usually just too young for me. I can't give you a reason why..... I just like 'em old!

So I guess some of the attractions can be innocent.

Although I am not a man and I can't answer the question directly, but I can tell you why I date older men. I am in my 20's and I like to date guys 13 to 20 years older because I can relate better then someone who is 5 years older then me. They seem to have a good hold on their priorities and they are laid back about arguments (they don't get so heated). I guess you could say they have grown up and they actually have maturity.

Perhaps the more relevant and telling question is; Why do younger women like to date older men? I am 47 years old and am constantly hit on by younger women. Some in their late twenties or early thirties are attracted by the Father figure? Others see a quality that they would like for their children? Still others see a successful businessman that can treat them well financially?

All have ulterior motives and us older men sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of the scenery and the ride.

Well I'm not a guy but I think i've got a pretty good idea as to why,men seem to take a liking to women who still have that extra kick left in them...Still on the wild side.When older women want to settle down own a house and have kids,you get the point.Im not saying all women are like this,and im not trying to be rude at all but when guys are like fifty they still jump up and shout when there favorite football team wins a game.
