I sit in the stands like a spectator, watching all the bashing between the two. Sometimes I see a really great debate going on and other times I see, well just crap..
I honestly believe that either one will never change the minds of the other until undeniable proof of one side is presented. The discussion is one that will always be. If you ever want to be taken serious, know the difference between Cussing and Discussing.

I agree with you... in most cases I dont bother arguing unless it is a real ineresting intelligent debate... however such things are rare. Most is cussing rather than discussing... On top of that I dont care to change anyones mind because in reality I admit that neither of us know for sure because of the utter lack of undeniable proof.. Therefore neither side can be said to be "wrong" since each is merely personal belief and not knowledge. Thats why I am an Agnostic, alot of people look down upon that as being a fence sitter but I see it as the only logical course. Since none of us have real knowledge of god/s of any kind how can we say we know? I revert to a simple technicality.. I dont KNOW but this is what I BELIEVE... when either side claims otherwise they are fooling themselves. The debate can never truly progress until we have the evidence required to either falsify or verify our respective beliefs. I like you am mostly a spectator who sits back and watches the fight while shaking my head in utter disbelief of how arrogant people can be when touting thier beliefs as knowledge.

I don't think it would be wise to trust in anything for the sake of believing, how ever if a person wants facts they must go to the source...
And faith is not finding undeniable proof to absolutely everything, faith is trusting that GOD is real and he will remove the wicked from his earth... I like that the Bible tells us he cannot tell a lie... And that is what I put my faith in. THE TRUE GOD.
People can debate all they want about what they believe, in the end I can only say I will be standing alone facing my own errors to GOD... You can't save me, not even my husband can.... Only one can do that... So why be argumentative about our Faith and spend the time searching your heart and soul for answers... And in the mean time, love like it is meant to be..... ♥

It is possible to change someones mind, but only if they are OPEN minded and not CLOSE minded (like christians have a tendancy to be) most religions cannot be explained scientifically, so when one asks someone how they can believe in something without proof, they jsut say "thats why its called faith" I personally am a believer, but not in the christian view. my religion is older than the christian, believe it or not, and has nothing to do with "Jehovah" or "Jesus Christ" and the only reason why my "God" (Satan) is in the bible is because christianity took older religions, mixed em together, twist em around, and voila!!! a brand new recipie for a piece of crap, lying religion, complete with self-contradicting book that we'll call a bible so we can do whatever we want and say that it is gods will!!!! jeeze, learn to think for yourself why dont ya.....

I'm not here to change the minds of anyone. I know that some people are searching for answers in their spiritual lives, and by the grace of God, I may be able to show them the same truth that delivered me from a life of pain and self destruction.

I'm not here to bash any atheist, muslim, budhist, agnostic, pagan, etc., only to share the truth that has changed my life with whoever will hear.

I'm just farmer sowing seeds. Some seeds will fall on good soil and grow, some will wither and die.

I agree and I think that the difference between a good debate and an argument starts with respect for others. Very good point you make =0)

The reason for some is not to convince, it is to create a level of knowledge that goes beyond what I call the "Padded Box" of many sects of Christianity. To undermine the charge to Islams to kill Pagan infidels if they did not convert.

Though sometimes it is just to try and insert truth into the dialogue.

No, if I can answer a question I try to answer. In reference changing someones opinion I'd say I give the Good Word when and where I can, but the accepting part is totally up to you. If you change and believe, cool welcome aboard, if not at least I tried. I'm not gonna chase you down and force feed you the Christian doctrine.

In one word, Nope. Another one word answer, Never.

Given that this question was posed in the Religion section, I feel its appropriate to mention that while I am a believer, I find it very disconcerning when I hear that *Joe Schmoe* killed 19 people, violently and deliberately, yet he asked for forgiveness and he now has a clear conscious. That to me, is a bunch of hooey!

I changed my mind, but it was done on my own.

I would hope that given enough logic and evidence (or lack thereof) that an individual would be able to objectively evaluate their beliefs and come to the conclusion that god is a fairy tale creature made up by man to fill in the gaps for things they don't understand.

No. Debates rarely change the opponents view but it may change a spectators view.
