Hi,
You should be able to lose quite alot of weight on a 30 day water fast.
However, I would not advice you to fast on your own at all as with all water fasts, you are likely to experience alot of healing crisis.
At the same time, water fasts are not really that healthy and not all that good for weight loss. When you go into starvation mode, your metabolic rate stops and then when you start eating again, you put back everything on.. AND MORE.
Also, a water fast is not as simple as just drinking water. You need preperation and there are Dos and Don'ts during the fast and you need to know how to move from a fast back to a normal eating programme.
I would only think it is suitable if you had someone experienced to guide you along.
Would you consider a less drastic way to lose weight?
I specialize in helping people lose weight quickly and healthily and i myself lost 15kg within 2 mths via a detox.
I have also helped people lose a total of 500kg in the past few years via detox.
A detox is healthy because it brings balance back to your body and losing weight is just a by product of the detox. So at the end of the detox, you will find yourself get more energetic, healthier, more radiant looking as well.
And the detox is simple. All you need to do is three things.
Number one, follow the detox programme which requires you to change your diet a little bit. Eg, take more vege and less meat and seafoods.
Number two, use 1 minute a day to take some natural health foods that I take to enhance the speed and the effect of the detox.
Number three, drink lots of water to flush the toxins out..
And that's it.
The rest is up to you.
So what do you think? ;)

I beg you not to do that. Water fasts are dangerous.
Physiologially, here's what happens: consuming large quantities of water releases toxins that have been stored up in your body. Without taking in vitamins and minerals (found in good food like furit and veggies), there is nowhere for those toxins to go. (i.e. the vitamins and minerals help break down and whisk away the toxins through your pores, waste, etc.). If you don't have anything in your system to flush out the bad stuff, it is reabsorbed into your body and this can make you quite sick.
If you want to go on some type of a liqiud fast, do a FRESH juice fast. That way, you are getting the vitamins and minerals your body needs to clean out the built-up waste. It is imperative that you drink fresh fruit and or veggie juice from a juicer - the sugar-filled crap at the store will not do you any good. If you're interested, about.com has information about a juice detox. It's not safe to do it for 30 days w/o medical supervision, either. You should only do it for a week or so.
I hope that helps! Be safe and good luck! 8-)

I didn't eat for 30 days once, of coarse I was sick and I didn't know it. I had walking pneumonia and I lost about 35 pounds in a month., I didn't try to not eat the thing is that i couldn't eat. I felt like I was going to die, when I finally got admitted to the hospital and got all better. In about a two months time period I gained all of the weight and then some. Its never good to not eat for that long. when you starve yourself it is very dangerous. You will become very ill doing this and when you do start to eat again you will gain every pound back and then some. The best thing to do is proper diet and exercise if you want to lose weight and keep it off. If you starve yourself you are just setting yourself up for a hard fall!

Of course that would depend on your weight and activity level. But after a 30 day water fast you would be seriously ill or dead.

Just water?
Quite possibly all of your weight, as you'll end of giving yourself a nice painful enfermity like kidney or liver failure.
If you are looking to cause irreparable harm to your body, then this is the way!

I would imagine quite a bit. But it won't be good. You'll lose muscle, and your body will start stockpiling fat, because it will go into starvartion mode.
Are you trying an "easy way out"? I suggest joining a gym and getting their training packages. Tell them what your goals are.

This does not answer your question but its a safe way to loose weight quite fast. If you want to loose weight you have to eliminate starch. Eat a regular potion of meat and all the fruit and veggies you want, no bread, pasta, potatoes, corn, chips, etc. I lost 185 lbs doing this and it works, take care Heather

you will lose a lot of water and muscle and no measurable fat loss. your body fat percentage will be much higher at the end of the 30 days. starving the body is the exact opposite of what is needed to stimulate fat loss. you are going to slow down your metabolic rate by fasting and by the loss of muscle mass. your body fat will be higher at the end of the 30 days making it much easier to continue to gain more fat after even at a reduced caloric intake.

Well, how much do you weigh? That's how much you'll lose.
Don't do anything so foolish. Eat healthy, cut out trans fats and simple sugars, and exercise and you'll get into good shape.
