If you want to add bulk, go heavy and do fewer reps but more sets. The standard rule of thumb for bulking is 5 sets of 5 reps (or 6 sets of 6 reps) with a weight that is 80% to 90% of your one-rep maximum. Remember to take your time. It should take you a full 2 seconds to raise the weight and a full 4 seconds to lower the weight for each rep. Rest for 90 seconds to 2 minutes between sets.
