I go to the gym 5 days per week. I do a variety of things - strength training, cardio, tread mill and elliptical. Most of the cardio classes I take are high-impact.
I believe my ankles are bruised. They are tender to the touch and it hurts them when I flex my foot or point my toe. I know I don't have sprains - I've had those before and know what it feels like...this is not the case. I don't have pain anywhere else (no pain in my feet, calves, achilles, etc.).
I know I'm close to being due for a new pair of sneakers...but in the meantime, can I keep working out? What should I do to alleviate the pain? Ice? Heat? Rest?
Thank you for your help!
BTW- I'm not a fan of pills...any natural remidies are appreciated too! :-)

Oh! I've had the pain for about a week now, if that makes a difference.

Go buy some ankle supports and tie them as tight as possible (without cutting off circulation or causing pain) to keep your ankles in place. Then when you are done exercising either soak them in ice water for 25 minutes or get ice wraps to put around them and keep on for about 20 minutes. Do not use heat..

Well it sounds like you either pulled a muscle or that you over worked it. Either way the best thing i think to do is to rest it as much as possible, and put some ice on it occasionally. You can still go to the gym just try holding back on some of the high-impact stuff you do that might be putting pressure on your ankles.
If you are still having pain after a few more days you should definitely go to a doctor.
