Yes, it's real. Dr. Ian Stevenson had investigated over 2500 cases that allows you to accept reincarnation based upon the evidence alone. He primarily studies small children under ten years of age that remember a previous life that can be verified with a fair degree of accuracy.
As to finding your own past lives, the usual method apart from spontaneous recall would be to see a reputable hypnotherapist who specializes in past life regressions. Basically what happens is that you are put into a very relaxed state somewhere between wakefulness and sleep and then you are asked to imagine something that will focus your attention. Then you let your mind wander and guide it farther back and see what it lands on. Sometimes it will take a while before you access a past life, but most people who try this will find that they have had several past lives that they can access. if you have any doubts as the the validity of your memories, try to find as much information out about a particular incarnation and you will usually find that you turn up some very obscure and strange information. This may allow you to verify the details of your other life . . . you will likely have access to facts that it is highly improbable that you could have come across or learned in any other way. Keep experimenting until you are satisfied. As you relive a past trauma, you will also often find that a present day complex that is related to it disappears. Good luck.

It isn't real.
If our soul could be judged by God for how we lived in our life, what if we were Christians in one life and an atheist in another? What if we were good and decent in one life and murderous and evil in another? How could God judge that? We have one soul and one chance at life. Make it a good life because it's all you've got. After that, is eternity.
I saw an article on Yahoo News yesterday that talked about a study regarding reincarnation, and how the study showed that those who believed in reincarnation had problems with memory. The study was able to show that the group, which was divided into those who believed in reincarnation and those who did not, demonstrated a greater memory loss in those who believed in reincarnation than those who did not. The study showed that those who believed in reincarnation had difficulty distinguishing which memories were actual memories of what happened, and which were memories of suggestive thoughts that were said during the study. Interesting study.

Yes, I believe it's logically "real" as Buddhism teaches it... and you don't get to know your past and future lives until you have the opportunity to see emptiness directly and become a buddha.
