I have a Chrysler Pacifica. It's very comfortable and even has a DVD player. I have two kids ( 4 & 8 ). It's not the best on gas, though.

I would highly recommend you look at a Mazda 5. The sliding doors make loading and unloading kids in car seats a breeze in a garage or parking lot. Of course, minivans have them too, but those are no fun.

Depends what you are looking for. In minivans, there are no safer than the Kia Sedona. It earned best marks in safety ever for any minivan (better than Honda or DOdge). For a more car-like family vehicle, I really like the Mazda5. It looks like a mini-minivan. Almost wagon like with 3 rows of seating and sliding rear doors, it will most likely be my own new family car.

First, I recommend that you talk to your pediatrician. It is often recommended that you do not put a baby in any vehicle until he/she is at least six month old.
Second, I recommend a Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country. There is lots of space to haul the baby, a car seat, play pen, toys, presents from grandma.
Get a car seat recommended by the auto manufacturer, whichever vehicle you buy. Generally, it is easier to install and remove ones that are made for a specific vehicle.

I don't know what'd work well for sure, but not a PT Cruiser. I have a newborn and the carseat is in there safely, but it's very cramped and hard to maneuver sometimes.

For a car, hmmm...a Nissan Altima maybe. They're pretty nice looking too.
