I'm with you! I swear I'm going to write my list of 10 most idiotic questions from this dog group and post them but the ones where the dog is obviously in need of vet attention and the owners are posting on the list instead of driving to the vet will be my #1 followed closely by the "Is my dog pregnant" one. And to really get my ire up, tell me in your post that you can't afford a vet! The "teacup" thing is getting me, too. Sometimes I have to just quit this for a few hours because I get so tired of seeing all these obviously ignorant questions!

Oh I totally agree, I've posted about this myself! It's enough to make anyone despair when you read stuff like "My puppy's had vomiting and diarrhoea for a week and seems lethargic, are there any home remedies that can help?" and then you get awful replies like "Just starve him and force feed him some garlic he'll be fine". AAAAGHHH!
Read this question, it's the funniest ever - a clever guy posing this same question, but in a rather different way...

To the person who said they researched on the internet before taking the animal to the vet - I see what you're saying, and I know it's nice to research to put your mind at rest while you wait. BUT I really hope you didn't go the vet telling him what was wrong and how to treat it - vets HATE that! It drives us up the wall at work - the head vet there has 35 years experience and finds it very offensive that people think they can substitute his knowledge and experience with the internet!

When it comes to a medical problem, I have NO clue why they come and ask online first.
If its for support and tips then the internet is great.
When my dogs had pyrometra, I was talking to a friend( who is a vet) online and he suggested that was what was wrong with them, so I went online and searched about the disease and possible cures and prognosis. SO by the time morning reached and I went to the vet, I was armed with a wealth of information to properly answer the vet's questions, since I knew exact sympthoms to look for.
The only reason I can see what people come for answers online is that they are looking for piece of mind since they CANNOT get to a vet at that time, ie clinics are closed and would not be open for sometime( next day, two days later). When you have a clue as to what is wrong, at least you dont have to wonder why your dog is sick while waiting for the vet to be open.
edit: No i dont go and tell the vet what to do. Vets like most doctors I've met like it when someone knows what they are talking about, rather than the customer/client/patient going " omg what do I do?
When they see that I have some basic knowledge what is going on, and I tell them about treatments I've read about, they feel more comfortable in discussion various courses of action. LOL i've spoilt one of my vets, for the last few times when I didn't research anything at all, he was surprised that I didn't read it up. He treats me like an vet tech at times.

Becuase they dont want to spend the money, And see if there this magical "thing" they can do instead.
My favorite is the "is my dog pregnate" um.... How are we suppost to know? what? do you want us to tell you if she blinks 5 times she is? GO TO A VET! Or learn something about animals before you buy them, or at least spay it.
