No, it is just that some people prefer to follow the world and their friends not their hearts. Purity is beautiful and should be respected and one should strive for it in mind, body, and soul. However, this is difficult for everyone and the incursions of the world and the evil one only makes it more so. So it is easier to make fun of others that are able to succeed in achieving it than pursuing it yourself.

Definitely not. Purity is something to be respected and honored. Some people may find it to be against their fundemental beliefs. If purity is a "dirty word" then I guess I'm a real potty mouth!!

If you mean sexual purity. To some people it has, because it makes them feel guilty for the way they act. Some people think"If everybody does it" it can't be bad, and any one who tries to stay sexually pure is a self-righteous prude.

Keep it to yourself until you get married and you won't regret it.

In that sense that it has come to be associated with Pietism, yes, because Pietism and hypocrisy are always sides of the same coin. It also has a connotation of self-perfection through works-righteousness that makes some uneasy. I think personal holiness or chastity probably are less grating.

What kind of purity?

Pure drugs/diamonds/etc are much more valued than impure ones.

What do you mean by 'purity'? Are you trying for some connection between morality and sexuality?

Well the concept is rather stupid.
It borders on ignorance. If you are referring to christian Puritan life styles Be reminded of other cultures and religions.
Nothing is pure when it comes to humans.
With all the defamation nothing is holy either.
