So I am interested in becoming a personal trainer and possibly a nutritionist. Becoming a personal trainer is something I have wanted to do since I can remember I love fitness and helping people but I have no idea where to begin. I am a recent high school graduate and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to become a personal trainer and what education and stuff do I need to get started on?

Personal training is an easy career to get into. You are going to need to get certified. I recommend that you get *independent* advice on what program is best for you. Many trainers will recommend the program that they used but have little knowledge of what else is out there. Plan on spending about $500-$800 including all the materials, exams and a 3 day workshop. There are various options for reducing this cost.

After you get certified you need to decide if you want to work as an employee or start your own personal training business. There are whole web sites written about these topics. See the link below for the certification reviews and a guide to becoming a personal trainer.

Hello! I have my certification through ACE which is highly recommended. Look up American council on exercise on the web and they have dates and locations to take the exam. Give yourself some time to study and be sure to buy the textbook. (they have many but the actual manual is the most helpful) To take the test you will also need a cpr and first aid certification which you can easily do through the local red cross.
Once certified, start lookin into local gyms. I find they are always in need of new trainers. I highly suggest working in a gym setting before venturing out on your own. That way you get a feel for the business and have some good experience under your belt.

You can still become a personal trainer. Just because you have "the look" does not mean you are a great trainer. I work with someone who has always lifted weights, but fails in the category of attentiveness and correct form when training clients. He spends most of the time running his mouth or checking text messages. Go for it girl!

This job has many entry levels and it is your choice how to enter it. The most common is great interest in physical fitness yourself, knowing how to achieve results and then teaching what you know.
It also helps to go to personal fitness/trainer schools to brush up on teaching methods (how to teach adults, psychology of gaining results for the slackers lol)
Others are more traditional such as a having finished degree programs related to the field such as Human Kinetics.
