Or do I need to apply for another type of visa? I want to do everything legally! Thanks for the help...

Only work on campus and for 20 hours during the semester, and 40 in summer time.
If you work off campus you will be doing that illegaly and jeopardize your status.

No you will not be able to.. The most you will probably be able to do is work on campus but that is it. You will not be able to work legally elsewhere in this country.
You would need to obtain a social security card and you would have to produce valid documents such as passport, I-90 form etc. You would receive a social security card BUT it will be stamped " not valid for employment"

You come here to Student you should have the funds to support yourself while here, but i think you can work on Campus without any other form of visa
